Amazing photos everyone.

Here's one I took a while ago now, some of you may have seen it before.
I love the patterns in the clouds.

Thank you, yes it was very eerie.
I took this with the Canon 20Da which captures more of the reds, but that night there was already an unusual amount of red/purple light reflecting in the clouds from the moonlight.
I don't know why, perhaps there was a lot of dust or particles in the atmosphere.

Canberra 2003

Took these shots while visiting Floriade in Canberra 2003. The day started out all right but then the clouds rolled in , typical of Canberra.

I see a few others have tried to slightly hijack the thread with lightning rather than cloud shots, in which case I'd like to show off some shots I took of the big storm over Sydney on 4 March this year.

All photos taken from the window of our apartment. You can see the SCG and Aussie Stadium in the foreground.

Good ones Morton! No. 3 is especially good. Didn't take any myself, was hiding under the bed.

Have measured relative image areas: ground: 20%, lightning 4%, clouds 76%, so these pics are on topic.

Well, maybe the clouds aren't the stars of my pictures, but they are integral to the subject!

Here's a more mundane cloud shot from Lake Macquarie, Feb 2006.

Happy, Houghy???

When there's nothing else to shoot: clouds! Storm clouds sweeping over Bright, Victoria, late this afternoon. Olympus Stylus 410 (borrowed!), auto mode.

Corduroy clouds

Saw these at my son's place near Bright yesterday afternoon. Didn't last long, formed & broke up within 15-20 minutes. Olympus Stylus 410 auto digital camera.

Cheers -

There's some great pics in this thread! Great work everyone!

I saw a cloud on it's lonesome today, in the foreground compared to the other clouds and it was shaped just like the space shuttle! Unfortunately it changed shape before I pull up and get the camera out...

Al.

Here's a photo I took ages ago through a car window of a 22 degree solar halo.

It's been slightly enhanced with curves, it adds an interesting effect and makes the halo stand out as it was quite dim. It's a lower quality photo due to the forum's size limit. I think the clouds on one side and the tree on the other add a nice touch.
