Don't know what was happening down there, but the clouds cleared in Newcastle at about 10:30 and we had one of those rare nights of really good seeing. The detail on Jupiter was simply amazing! The red spot was there (although it's more a 'cream spot' these days), there was all sorts of detail in the bands, particularly a strange smaller, lighter 'spot' in the other major band. Had a chance to try out the TV's and I was blown away by them both! I'll put a 'mini review' in the Equipment forum.

Just need to put a 'meteorological lock' on the current conditions for tonight!

and Rod... here I was thinking it was my cup cakes you were after!

cya tonight!

Ed,

Did George grind the mirror ? I think he is currenly grinding a 14" for Andrew Murrell's 2nd scope so he can leave the 20" out at Coona'

If you mean my mirror yes he did, he has a couple of projects on at the moment he is currently working on a 90mm diagonal to replace the one on my scope and Andrews 14" he is also working on his 48" solid aluminum mirror,
I stood corrected the other day when I mentioned to him about the 42" he was working on, he told me ("It's not 42" it's 48")

Oh well what's a few inches
