Suggest someone contact Kevin (sharptack2) and John (fizics) as they are probably both working today and may not have seen this change of plan.

Already had plans for tonight, too bad about the weather turning. Saturday was my only free night.

Dark skies to all, and no dew until after midnight!

Phil Townsend and I were planning to come up tomorrow night (Saturday) with our 28 and 20 inch telescopes. I can't make it tonight. Will keep an eye on the weather and let you all know if we are still coming tomorrow night.

Hope those who are there tonight have a great observing session together!

Oh that's a shame Rod, would've been good to catch up.
If you still go tomorrow night and I'm back in time, I'll still try and pop up to see you guys.

I'm going to be there tonight around 8 pm.

"Good things come to those who wait"..., and listen to the wise old man.

Unbelievable night, filled with planets, stars and curious light beams.
I got to get me one of those "Defender of the Galaxy" laser light sabres..., in blue !!!!

Thank you for your company guys..!

Oh what a great night, the Owl was right once again!
I really enjoyed myself.
Thank you guys it was so good to meet up again and 'see' you all.
Great to finally meet Shane and Neil and to catch up with Allan_L, Geoff the owl and of course Joe (who I've just banned ).

Took my new Canon 1Dx DSLR with me to do a couple of widefield test shots on a tripod but silly me forgot my reading glasses and couldn't read the settings.
Had to get Joe to do all the settings for me which was a hilarious sight.

Thanks to Allan and Joe for allowing me to look through their scopes, great views of Jupiter, Saturn, Eta and many other DSOs.
Loved the bino's Joe and I nearly fell through into that Ethos mate.
And of course thank you for showing me your laser pointer Joe, that thing will be awesome once it warms up and you put fresh AA's into it.

Again thanks guys, great night.

And here's the result of the quick test shots I took with the Canon 1Dx.
I only did four x 15sec test shots on a tripod, total of 1 minute.
The details of this shot are:
Stack of 4x15 sec, ISO6400, @ 16mm, f/6.3 (lens EF16-35mm, f/2.8 L).

The camera's a wonderful example of Canon's top of the range model, so solid and the image quality top notch.
Very clean at ISO 6400 and obviously this shot doesn't have enough exposure time to pull out any decent detail since they're only 15 sec exposures but nice nevertheless.

Sky glow's getting worse up there though, you really notice the change now.

Yes, Rod.
Although the relative humidity was high, the seeing was really good and so steady.
Possibly the best viewing I can remember from all of my PC visits.
And, as Kevin predicted, the dew held off till after midnight.

Shame there was Apple Pie left over.
Oh well, a surprise for the missus.

Hope you have as good conditions tonight.

As well as learning the road rules, Joe may need to brush up on his memory techniques too.

G'day Allan,
This Saturday was a planetary line up for Debbie and myself to make it to the Pony Club. Had I had a look at this forum yesterday arvo we would have been there in a flash last night. As it stands though, both scopes got wet in our beer garden last night and we were back up after 4am this morning to catch a 'few' meteors.
I will pack in readiness for tonight but it is looking a bit sus with cloud already moving in from the west.

I will keep watching sky and this thread to see if tonight is still on.

Sadly Phil and I have had to call it. Thick cloud and it is looking ominous. Maybe next month :-(

No show for Deb and I. Was still cloudy an hour ago when we would have headed off to the club.

Dear Allan
As much as I hate to admit it you appear to be right - I have searched the rule books and you are allowed to overtake on the left (its called undertaking in some circles). I was aware that you can overtake on any lane on multi lane road but that you are allowed to overtake on left on freeways caught me unaware. I must say this is stupid and dangerous and most other civilised countries ban it.
