Firstly, thanks again Mike for organising a great star party. I made new friends and this year seemed as friendly and social as ever.

I was very lucky to have Rodney set up his 24" next to me, and I spent a couple of hours with him on Thursday night enjoying the big, bright views his telescope had to offer. Something I won't forget in a hurry.

I got to see Hugh's TSA 120 setup which is a beauty, plus his Carina Nebula image which is one of the best photos I have ever seen.

I really enjoyed Alex's sketching workshop. I bought all the sketching gear when I got home and had a play with it on Sunday night. It's a lot harder than he made it look, so much practice will be required I think.

I packed up and left Saturday night, and had a good drive home back to Newcastle, thinking of the terrific couple of nights observing I had just enjoyed.

Thanks Mike for putting on such a great event!
It was so nice meeting and mingling with so many like minded people in such a great location.

I can't wait to see the processed images from my camp neighbours and all the imagers.
I have a couple of my own plus a bunch of timelapse stuff which I'll process, edit together, and post soon.

Thanks for the kind words Allan, it was great chatting with you

IIS Astrocamp 2014

Just a quick note to thank Mike and the gang for a great time at Lostock last week.

Dave and myself had a great time storm and tempest included on the Thursday and Friday but unfortunately we had to leave before the unveiling of the Gondawana telescope on the Saturday.....

It was great to see through the big dobs on display at Centaurus A, Jupiter and Saturn although the real gobsmackers were Omega Centauri, Eta Carinae and the Jewel Box.

We met up with some great new friends including our Astrocamp neighbours Paddy, Richard, Darren and Fred and family....

See ya next time......

Scott
