Well, I'm still up for it this Saturday. If the weather plays nice, it will be a good end to the year.

If not, then it will be Friday night on the balcony...

I am out again this weekend due to another Christmas function.
Just can't seem to find any time lately to scratch myself, and I am very itchy.
For good skies that is.
Merry Christmas to all and hope next year is a good one to us all.
Cheers

Thankyou Greg and Allan with your assist with the monster, your knowledge of big aperture scopes is amazing.

May or may not get there this Sat, if so i will be scopeless as i have to start work at 0700 on Sunday morning. If i don't get there have a great Christmas and a safe new year.

Don't forget to keep in mind the Chaffey Dam Camp on the 6th to the 10th March. Hopefully if will be great. The numbers of both Amateurs and interest-eds is growing by the week.

Take Care

AA

Wow, Phil, that is quite an old concert!

Back on track, it looks like we may be clouded in YET AGAIN!

Hopefully, 7-timer has gotten it wrong, and it will be as crisp seeing as Thursday night was.

Not looking too good at the moment.
Looks like possible early evening showers with overcaste till midnight then clearing a bit. Only hope is if the huge cloud band over the state speeds up a lot in its westerly travel.

Greg.

Edit: Hmmm... sun has just come out in Sydney.

Have a great Christmas everyone.
I plan to do some planetary imaging from the backyard this holiday given the full moon timing (among other things)

Yes, looks utterly clouded out here at Point Clare.

Merry Christmas to one and all. Hope to see you all more often in 2013.

Unfortunately, I agree that there is an ice cubes hopes in hell of the sky clearing enough to warrant the trip up the mountain tonight.

And it looks to be set in with no sign of a good night in the next 7 days.

So ...
Happy Summer Solstice celebrations to everyone (read:"Winter Solstice" for Northern Hemisphere readers, if any).
Hope you survive the EOW.
And look forward to seeing you (and your new Astro Toys) next year.

GB perhaps we can change the Christmas BBQ to be an Australia Day BBQ
...(weather permitting)

Friday 21 12 2912

Is anyone interested in an EOW get together?
I know we have been trying for a PC pre-Christmas celebration,
Which has been deferred (indefinitely) due to weather.
But i would still like to get together, and what better excuse than 'the End of the World" ... as we know it.
Or Astronomically, the rare alignment of our solar system with the galactic heart.

Just a thought

If not, then, Merry Christmas and a Happy Summer Solstice.
See you on the other side...

I'm interested.
We could have a moon and planets night.
Weather is pretty erratic though.
Greg.

No Offence John,
But only an "Irish Stargazer" would plan an "End of the World" party for
THE NEXT DAY After.

Ah, but if we are all still around then there will be something to celebrate that day and not nervous wrecks waiting for midnight to pass on the actual day.
Can't do tonight.

Actually we are not officially out of the woods until 5pm tomorrow which is midnight in Mexico city. It was a Mayan calendar after all so it's the local time that counts
