His view mucked me around no end hence the need to post this thread.

He is bare faced using his "fame" thru the media to get his own theories across, just plain wrong.
I'm extra cranky at the moment, I just want it to stop raining already. Dobson was the casualty.

Apologies if I sound a tad harsh (see, there's still niceness amongst the angst ).
John Dobson has had these wacky theories since he left the Seminary and has not been backward with presenting them to anyone who will listen for well over 25 years.
But then he has self belief that he is right and tells everyone so
Cheers

Interesting.

If I can add my 2 cents' worth, this seems to be a classic example of how engineering and science, while closely related and often attracting the interest of the same people, are not at all the same thing.

He seems to be one of the many who are genuinely talented at engineering, but seem to get the wrong end of the stick when dealing with science.

On the other side, I count myself as one of the many who are very in tune with science, but are all at sea when any practical problem presents itself (resulting in ongoing battles with my Argo Optical Encoders).

Oh to be good at both.
