After you have warmed your lenses and mirrors, good motorcycle accessory shops and health wear businesses sell heated gloves, socks, inner-soles, clothes and underwear.

Depends how warm you want to be

But beanie hair is evil!
That's good advice, Phil. I'm more of a hoody person though, and I will make sure I wear it more often. Perhaps I've got to come across the "right" beanie But I have a feeling it could get annoying constantly putting on and taking off my glasses with a beanie so tight to my head.

The heated kitty sleeping bag might fit over the scope quite well.
Interesting thought Liz ...
Perhaps I should just take out my Sunbeam heated electric throw rug. It's waterproof too as it's machine washable. Scope and I both warm and toasty.

Wow! Who knew!
I had no idea they sell this kind of stuff!

We decided not to go ahead with the cor flute material as Bunnings only had it in clear. Got black camping mat foam from Clark Rubber instead.

hi Suzy i know by now you have been turned off patio heaters, but i need to add my 10c worth anyway i have one and i use it in the garage when i am working. Even in Sydney the bottle freezes up after about 4 hours and then i need to hit it with the heat gun/hairdryer to defrost it as the gas stops and i freeze. just thought you would like to know if you were going to buy one for parties etc... The other thing is i built my own dew heater and elements and FORGOT TO HEAT MY EP BOX so the scope, mirror diagonal and the EP i was using were fine but when i pulled one out of the box it would dew almost instantly. (that has now been rectified)

A bit of a different tack - for the mirrors, I found that when I made Scott Tannehill's fan modification on my GSO 12" any dew problems stopped. It directs airflow from the primary fan across the face of the primary and up the tube. Improved seeing as well. I didn't even do the full mod just put the baffle over the end of the tube with a hole cut over the fan and some 1 cm thick foam tape around the internal circumference of the tube just a tad above the primary. If you have a truss dob, you'd have to use a shroud to get the airflow up the tube.

To stop my finderscope fogging up, I just put the caps on between looking for objects and a little plastic bag over my red dot finder. Takes half a mo' to take them off when star hopping.

Peterbat made similar mods to his lightbridge after a dewy session at snake valley and told me that he also got very good results.
