A Double Bunger!!
Hope he's got a license for that...could endanger the public.
Legit cracker time was 6pm to 11pm, just heard by 8:30pm some 50 fires were started & by the end of the night that had doubled...the fire brigade don't enjoy cracker night that's for sure.

That you tube vid is a classic Every time that kid goes to sit down it will remind him of what a dill he was.
When we were kids we used to have wars from one side of the street against the other with 10 shooters in hand ( remember them, the colored fireballs) and sky rockets and I remember when my two older brothers were arguing over the last 10 shooter because one brother paid for it but the other brother went for the long ride to the shop to get it. so the eldest gave in and let the other have it so he lit it up and turnred to shoot him and it was a dud and exploded in his hand. No major injury just a very black and sore hand and minor burns.
It was crazy back then and these days I would not let my kids run wild with crackers like we did.
But I have to say we had a ball!!!
I say bring back "supervised by responsable parents cracker night!!!"

I needed a longer match, I knew that flash powder was just that but not how rapid it would ignite and burn, my mistake but I don't blame anyone else for that.

Yea know what we used to do as kids, yep about 10 -12 , get an old metal bicycle pump, put a penny bunger in the end where the valve was to be and put a marble in the front, it was secured to a lump of wood, but bloody hell did it shoot.

It's interesting reading the discussion about injuries related to fireworks.
Many many years ago when I was researching the twists and turns involved in obtaining a pyrotechnics manufacturers licence, I came upon a government website(may have been military, army?) that listed every reported case of civilian injury due to an explosive going back into the sixties or seventies... it was interesting to note that the rate of injury did not appear to decrease after fireworks were banned in WA, there were still injuries due to people improvising their own devices made from matches or powder salvaged from flares etc. materials gathered from garden sheds....
Also injuries due to using dangerous materials to construct devices, like PVC pipe, these people probably thought 'oh it's only a plastic, it will melt' but noooo, PVC shatters into sharp splinters, very very very nasty when flying thru the air like a bullet.
Wish I could remember where the site was, but it was over 10 years ago so......
should still be something there if anyone wishes to go digging through the ".gov.au" websites.

Oh yeah, remember that little trick with a smirk. Stick a penny bunger under a Milo tin and stand on it, or not, both had a very pleasing final result.
I used to build model ships, and they were loaded with ordinance until I lit one up in the local river and damn near blew my own head off. Those were the days when "boys were boys" and nobody thought twice about a few burns.
Bring em back!!

If more people are wanting to stop fun things, we might as well go into a deep sleep and be done with life, bring on stasis and stop having fun or a life.
There are too many people who want to put in rules so they can get people to act as sheep and rule the world with ease.
And too many people want these rules to take over their lives.
Why can the crusty demons take risk and everyone applauds it?
Or why can someone climb the Himalayas and bring someone else in danger who has to rescue him/her?
We as normal people can be killed by a car and not be noticed, but someone who takes a BIG risk in motor sport and dies gets the "ooooohhhh what a poor man/woman response".
They are the ones who take the risk to be killed and get idolised for doing it.
People are weird creatures and it will only get weirder with time

+1 - let the idiots blow their a$$ off. More fire crackers for us to use reasonably I say. Brings another topic to light: 'regulations' vs. 'natural selection' ?

LOL Marc.
Hmmm, Natural selection and the human race, a very touchy subject.
Suffice it to say, IMHO, humans are in a unique position where the gene pool is getting more and more poluted... dodgey genes aren't getting weeded out. It scares me.
I hope I said that in a non-offensive manner?

I believe you have a valid point but as you say, a very touchy subject.
I've heard that the greatest evolutionary leaps are made during times of high enviromental stress...natural selection may have it's way yet.
Was reading in todays paper about an American celebrating the 4th of July who blew his whole arm off with a mortar style firework.
He's having it stitched back on by surgeons who fail to see the importance of natural selection.

Bottom line is that you have to let people make their own mistakes. Especially the young ones. Shielding every single potential hazard behind red tape is not a solution nor is it practical. What's next? Bubble wrap the whole planet?
I think the young ones in particular need to be given some 'breathing' space and the same chances as we did but the parents need more control. All starts at home. Don't blame the gvt. As an example I find it very hypocritical when I hear mates driving around saying 'Bloody P Plater' here and there, then I think, hell I used to do worse things than that. I'm still alive and not a bad person because I learnt from it. I guess...
Hands up who's never misbehaved? Or maybe you don't remember?

May 24 is SWMBO's birthday too. She still misses getting a half-day holiday for Empire/Commonwealth Day.

When I lived in Melbourne a decade ago our German Shepard crashed though a glass plate window in fear. Cost me about $850 in glass & vet bills. Bloody idiots.
