Note the 1888 version was on display in Canberra recently (just beautiful!!) and was officially called Starry Night which confused me a little since I only knew of the 1889 version.
Also Irises is in J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles which was mentioned in the DW Confidential. Other Van Goch fans may have noticed other paintings which should not be at Musee d' Orsay.
Nonetheless an excellent episode of the good Doctor last night; one of the best!

Was REALLY looking forward to this episode, and wasnt too bad.
Yes, but quite a few of mistakes, which made me like it a bit less than I should have. Have followed in Vincents footsteps in France seeing where he lived, painted and died. Still, seeing any works of Vincents was amazing, and I did tear up at the end when he went to Musee d'Orsay.

Pretty good episode, I think. I could only watch the previous seasons (2005-2008) only occasionally and never quite got fully involved in them (the David Tennant era), Matt and Karen has been my first serious attempt to indulge myself in Doctor Who since I was an addict back in ... 1981 with Peter Davison!!!
I do fully appreciate the comments regarding the Van Goch episodes and some of the innaccuracies, but with a bit of artistic licence (it is Doctor Who, after all) the writers did a pretty good job. Now waiting for the DVD to arrive into my ABC shop!
I might try to pick up the complete seasons of David Tennant on DVD also, but I hope I'm not disappointed after being absorbed so much in Mat and Karen's performances. It might be hard to regress.

I think this was the best of the new season. I also like the way they didn't put any trailers on, giving no hint where this one is going.

Do you reckon?
The stories in season five have a continuous theme of having story lines that are fundamentally flawed, and collectively this season appears to be the 'sloppiest' of 'New Who'. Admittedly I do dislike Matt Smith, although one could expect stronger episodes appearing with Moffat at the reigns. Perhaps though, I'm just a harsh critic!

I look forward to sitting down this week to see the final episode. I haven't had any issue with this series, but as I admitted earlier I never hade the chance to seem much of the previous four seasons. How is it sloppy, Kate? Can you elaborate a bit on your view? Honestly like to hear views from others.

Yes, I believe that you quite possibly are. Elaborate on "flaw" please. From an entertainment standpoint the final show was a cracker. I'm not a fan of Smith either, or Gillan for that matter, but I'm not going to bother unwinding and analyzing plots to gauge whether it's worth watching. This episode was fast-paced and interesting. The fact that time lines don't necessarily make sense doesn't matter.

We are talking about a sci-fi show with a Timelord who travels in time, so, I try not to analyse the show that much. Just great entertainment to relax on a Sunday evening

Hello, hopefully someone will share a similar view as to mine...
Through out series/season 5/31 there have been several problems appearing in the story lines and with continuity; perhaps these are things that will be addressed in future, or perhaps they will remain as just errors. However, from the responses evoked so far, I think I'll leave it rest. But I must protest that an episode not making sense (as in Big Bang), must degrade the viewing quality of the episode. Surely a story must make sense, if it is to be enjoyed?
Doctor Who has taken a clear swerve towards science-fantasy, with a growing altitude of comedy. Perhaps this is necessary for a contemporary audience, but its disappointing. I dont wish to do an Eleventh Hour to Big Bang analysis of flaws in the writing and production, but they are present, and I'm sure fellow fans will concur?

Tried to watch the show tonight, sorry but I just cannot credit it at all these days. The Doctor used to be a Time Lord, yet still a subject of the Universe and governed by its laws. Now he seems to make them up as he goes and plays God into the bargain.
Bring back the cardboard sets and rubber suits - at least they had great story lines.

I'll reserve the same judgement until I see series six, where River's significance is finally explained. I suspect that there is huge chunk that we aren't privy to yet.
