i have several whisky's that i am sipping at present (not at the same time!)
Glenmorangie 12YO in Madiera Wood finish, very nice and smooth, the madiera wood gives it an almost sweet quality
Glenfiddich 18YO, while Glenfiddich is the cheapest of the good malts, the 18YO is much smoother on the palate.
Laphroig , lovely whisky, strongest tasting of all the Islay malts, very nice after cheese and crackers.
Balvenie , Lovely almost sweet whisky, yum!

I certainly agree with you about the Glenfiddich. Thanks for the tips on the others - I will certainly look out for them.

Generally beer and wine for me. Although now you mention it I might have to go look up some nice cocktail recipes.

Jack Danials for me. Seventeen years old. Drank a litre bottle in 3 hours. Had to be taken to casualty. Missed scoring with a girl I'd had a crush on for years.
Can't face the stuff. Its 'orrible.
BTW. Those tablets you can't buy for a cold, the one's made with pseudo-ephedrine? Pop one before retiring. No more hangover! Seriously!

Yep... I can not even look at a bottle of black sambucca any more.. when i was 17 I went a little silly on the stuff... 1125ml in one session (lasting all of 2 hours) I was fine for about 10 minutes after I finished the bottle... Following that I started throwing up continuously, ended up in casualty.. 3 days off school... Really really unwise...
I cant look at the stuff, smell it, smell anything that has even a hint of aniseed in it... I lose my stomach REALLY fast...

Hey Geoff
I thought I was the only one outside of italy that had the occasional limoncelo (I think some would say its an acquired taste). You ever indulge in some of the buffolo cheese and other produce from that area?

When I was a young lad in western sydney the thing the ladies would always bring along to the Friday night party was a bottle of Cold Duck. Do they still make that stuff. I must go buy some and see if it still tastes as I remember it. Ahh they were the days.
The first time I went on a date with my wife (now of 30 years), we were at a restaurant and I ordered a bottle of Ben Ean Moselle. She thought I was such a man of the world that I could just rattle the name off the tongue like that.

Definitely an acquired taste, I do have a bottle of limoncelo in the cupboard... Along with grandpa's special recipe home made grappa.. If you are in need of pain, grappa delivers it with stunning results!

Let me see. You were on a promise from your highschool gal of your dreams and you got wasted instead. Thats got to be one of the sadest most tragic stories I have ever heard

Hey ya Alex. Not that I think it will necessarily improve for you but the best thing for limoncelo is to put it in the freezer for a few hours (it doesnt ice up) and as Geoff was suggesting if you like it then it is very refreshing.

I am a beer fan!
I like vodka and coke and bundy and 'real' sarsaparilla. Go figure!

I don't mind it at all Claude, everything in moderation however... I can't drink too much of it, but a small amount just after a nice meal is generally fairly pleasant..
