I will try to get to get there on the 21st John. I had another arrangement that night, but it will probably not be happening now.

how many days do you want to stay and in what area ?
the pony club might be an option

Three days would be great, somewhere central to you, Mike, Rod, etc. I'll give you a ring in the next couple of days.

gates will be open a bit after 6pm i spose (unless someone else gets there earlier)
not much point in getting there any earlier
just might be a bit of cloud early - don't let that put you off
sorry you will miss RB's birthday party Geoffro
(you know you don't have to bring a scope to get in the gate - and we will hand feed you sausage rolls and pies if needs be - i mean you can't really go out anywhere with your arm in a sling - accept the pony club of course)(it's in the rules that we have to accept people with their arms in slings)

Sorry to hear about your mishap Geoffro, hope you make a speedy recovery mate !
I'm going to try and make it tonight since it's the first break I've had for so long.
This hot weather has thrown a bit of a spanner in my plans, since I have to make sure all is well before I leave here but I should be there later tonight.
I won't be able to make next week though.
Anyway hope to catch up with everyone tonight hopefully.

What's with the cloud forecast Geoff?
That was not in my order for tonight?????????
Wash your mouth out now.
Do you want to discourage all the thousands coming tonight?

Well looks like I am the first to log a report.
There was some cloud to contend with during the course of the evening, becoming somewhat blanket-like after midnight, but some nice views were enjoyed early on.
I particularly enjoyed:
+chatting with Allan and in particular getting to look at the M42 region of the sky through his SV 80mm finder (am getting one myself...can't wait!)
+solving the world's problems with Phil
+discussing pertinent astronomical issues and conundra with John Bambury
+listening to an in-depth dissertation on cigars by RB
+eating cake provided by The Owl and RB - thanks guys
+taking in some photons on Phil's, Norm's, Greg's, Allan's, Rick's, Geoff's and Joe's scopes
+peering at the Milky Way between chuckles.
Didn't really get a chance to catch up with Deano....maybe next time!
What a great thing we do each month. Love it!

Ditto and Double Ditto
Pleasnt way to spend an evening
However, with two full rows of DOBs and Myself the lone SCT (in my own personal row), I was feeling a little outnumbered. Hurry back Geoffro!
Thanks all for a great night!
Next week same time same channel?
(maybe next week I'll bring a DOB too )

Yes - well - what looked like a very promising nite was spoilt by the cloud and dew - which wasn't supposed to be there.
good till about 11pm - then started to cloud out
Jupiter was looking very promising, and i was waiting for Orion to shine later on - but not to be - oh well - there is always next week
a reasonable sucker hole was opening up around 3am, but we had allready made the decision to close up.
Think we had 11 of the diehards on the roll call in all, and was good to see the people from across the road, who graciously turn their lights off for us when we visit, come over for a look through the scopes.
we gave RB a proper "birthday cake and beer" celebration, which he obviously didn't know he was going to get, cause he brought his own cake
very nice it was too
another good nite out with the crew - even if the clouds didn't want to play fair

Good to see everyone, skies let us down a bit but didn't really matter, like that new scope rick it's a little ripper.Thankyou to John .B. for checking out my scope, there is a wealth of info in that brain of yours John. I also have a new appretiation of cigars thanks to RB. I think thats the first time your weather forecasting has been wrong Mr owl or maybe second time.
Thanks to everyone for an enjoyable evening
