haha nice one Narayan, I like the shot, it gives it a real perspective of looking through a lens.

We've had it crystal clear here for hours.. Amazing how different an hour or 2 of driving distance can be.

A little bit wider shot taken at 10:02pm for the folks who can't see it coz of cloud.

Welcome to astronomy events davo!

Three days and two nights of beautiful still weather came to an abrupt end at 09:45 your time!!!.

Clouds started coming in from the west to block venus and antares = bugga.

Ok moon will be right, clouds on eastern horizon, but as the west is filling with clouds, i should be right. Right???

NOOOOO.

Clouds came in from west and east???? GO figure!

ANyway got a 8:30, 9:00 and 9:45, but nothing after that.

Captured in raw colour mode with the toucam. Clouds played havoc with exposure.

Anyway, happy with result.

There will be some great ones to come from the guys!!

Fun to share the event with friends!!

They are Kodak shots Dave! Can't use the Toucam yet.

At least you got the full sequence before the clouds came in. Well done!

I have just finished watching the whole event from the clear skies of the NT
Didn't get any good pic's though, as I really need the tripod adaptor to get good shots with my little camera.
It was good to share the event with my Brother in central Qld, over the phone.
I must admit I had forgotten all about it, till I went outside & of course looked up (as you do).
The occasional low coastal cloud, added an bright orange halo around the moon, which was a nice effect at full eclipse !

At first it was "fun" trying to glimpse the Moon as it darted behind the occasional dark cloud, but finally it cleared here in northern Sydney. It was good to notch up another lunar eclipse.

For the trivia buffs, as far as partial lunar eclipses go (ie. excluding penumbral eclipses), this was the smallest percentage of the Moon to be eclipsed since 1970 (and that one wasn't fully visible from Australia). For a partial eclipse to be fully visible from Australia, and to have a smaller percentage than what we've seen tonight, you have to go back to 1958!

As the eclipse passed its maximum, I couldn't help but turn my attention to Mars which was lower down in the northeast. The eclipse may be over, but the next big observing opportunity is already here.

here are my feeble attempts, Ken excellent photos, same with you DavidP. heavy cloud cover and sucker holes were the flavour of the night in newcastle.

the last one is through the Intes, the others with my trusty50-500 lens

1st photo is of antares and Venus

the others are the best I got considering the conditions

the last one is of the moon and mars

This was the best I could manage tonight , used the Canon with 200mm lens.

Didn't think it was gonna clear up so didn't setup the scope.
