Bit of a gamble traveling from Sydney for me.
Will have to be a very last minute decision.

The BOM site's still showing some rain on the way and the cloud movement on the satellite image seems to have slowed down - there's still alot of cloud over the eastern half of NSW. After a pretty tiring day, I don't think I'd be able to handle a late one tonight waiting for the cloud to clear and observing later. To all who have ventured up to the Mountain, I hope clear skies and a good time awaits you. Till next time.

Big gamble for me to commit to venturing all the way up there with such poor weather. Definitely would have gone if there'd been clear skies forecast.
But clear skies for those who did make it!

All,
Tonight was awesome. Awesome company and not too shabby skies, either, after 2 AM.
Highlight for me was seeing some of Andrew's neat toys, and, then some very fine views through Rick's 10". The views of Omega Centauri and M101 were a standout for me, as well as Eta Carinae and a bunch of other galaxies and fine objects.
Oh, almost forgot -- seeing Sirius /and/ Pup through the 5mm Nagler and 2x barlow!
Thanks to Rick, (Combi) Geoff, Dean and Andrew for a wonderful evening/morning.
Regards,
Humayun

is unday night a goer if sky is clear
If there are any other than me on holidays who is interested in viewing tonight (sunday) at the pony club, that is assuming that the sky is clear and the pony club is free of bookings.
I am not a keyholder but maybe someone with a key might be interested???
I will recheck this site at about lunch time with a weather update to see if anyone is interested, the night should still be very dark as the new was only last night

I would be interested in going tonight but do not have a key.
Not sure about the "politics" of a non-Saturday night.

Glad you guys got in some good observing last night. I did some late observing on Friday night (got to bed about 2.30am), so was too pooped to come out for another late night. Not sure the weather is looking so good for tonight. I won't be coming, but I hope you can get a few starters, Arthur.

Arthur
Not sure if the Pony club is available for sunday night viewing as I don't think anyone has ever been on sundays before.
I think that you would need confirmation from the people within the club itself, and Geoff (owl) organised last night a few days prior to us going.
Geoff is on holidays at the moment but one of the moderators may know the contact to speak to to organise if possible. Both Deeno and I have keys if it could be arranged. I am unavailable for tonight but maybe if you could arrange or get approval you could let one of us know if OK.
Sorry you all missed last night as it was quite spectacular seeing conditions later. More later. Cheers

I thoroughly enjoyed Saturday night at the Pony Club.
Great to catch up with H, Rick, Geoff-Combi and to make Deeno drive all the way back from home just with a simple mobile call (very few threats were made).

It was a please to show you the toys Humayun, and I'm glad you ended up buying Leon's 50mm L f/1.2, you must have been impressed with the 85mm L on Saturday night.... LOL.
Thanks to Rick for proving he does have a filter and was willing to setup his dob just to prove it !
Lovely views were had all-round and Saturn was fantastic with edge on rings.
Cheers everyone and here's looking forward to the next meet.

Top night on Saturday and although we had to wait until earliy hours it was well worth it, as it cleared magically as Geoff left about 2am.(why does that always happen) We missed you though Geoff, but I don't think you would have made it to patrol the next morning.
I hadn't ever got to see the pup of Sirius before, but that was because I was never using that type of magnification either, and the seeing was that good. Excellent views of Saturn with those rings edge on was another highlight for me.
Great company again, RB, Deeno and good to see Amanda too, Geoff(Kombi), Humayun and friends from Sydney.
Hoping for another good rollup at next new moon. Cheers. and happy new year.
