Hi Jen & All,

Winding the clock back (waaaaay back) for those who can remember Hawkwind and early Floyd ...

A couple of Tangerine Dream albums from about the time of the Apollo missions:

Alpha Centauri
Tracks:
(1)Sunrise in the Third System
(2)The fly and collision of Comas Sola (see Comet 32P/ Comas Sola)
(3)Alpha Centauri

Zeit
Tracks:
(1)Birth of Liquid Pleiades
(2)Nebulous Dawn
(3)Origin of supernatural probabilities
(4)Zeit

and from the same era --

An early Yes anthem: Starship Trooper (probably my all-time favourite Yes track), particularly part 3 :Wurm. Particularly (again) the concert version on "Yessongs". Some of the best bass guitar you will ever, ever hear ... play it loud, loud, LOUD ...

Pt 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sA7lh...eature=related

Pt 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xL8EuULzd4k

Back in the "olden days", Yes fans were known colloquially as "troopers" after this song.

And also a particularly apt classical piano piece: Vision of a Starry Night -- by Alan Hovhaness.

Someone has already suggested Astronomy Dominie (early Floyd) -- particularly (again) love the live version on the album Ummagumma ...

Best,

Les D

"Constellations"

It was just another night
with the sun set
and the moon rise not so far behind
to give us just enough light
to lay down underneath the stars
listen to papas translations
of the stories across the sky
we drew our own constellations

by The Church

And its something quite peculiar,
Something thats shimmering and white.

Under the milky way tonight

I note that Ric has already mentioned Space Ritual by Hawkwind, THE number 1 space rock band. Here's some more of their album titles -
In Search of Space
Warrior on the Edge of Time
Quark, Strangeness and Charm
Astounding Sounds, Amazing Music
Chronicle of the Black Sword
The Xenon Codex
Space Bandits
Alien 4
Area 54
Love in Space
Theta Orionis
Epocheclipse
A few song titles - Master of the Universe; Children of the Sun; Space is Deep; Spirit of the Age; Uncle Sam's on Mars; Sputnik Stan; Sonic Attack; The Right Stuff; It is the Business of the Future to be Dangerous; Altair; Void of Golden Light; Xenomorph; Vega; Abducted; Earth Calling; Aerospace Age Inferno and the classic Silver Machine.
Few bands have championed Space and Science Fiction as consistently as Hawkwind has in their 40 year career. One reviewer described them as "Peter Gunn meets Buck Rogers.....ray guns and fuzz pedals at dawn."

Fly ~ Celine Dion

This is such a sad yet beautiful song she wrote for her sister who died of cancer. But it could have been written for anyone who's lost a loved one.

You probably never will Andrew. This guy stated that the original master reels were the property of the Imogene Coca estate, and not the studio. Strange situation, but the estate wishes to never re-release the reels for public consumption. I guess copies have leaked out from studios and wherever else, which are what you'll see on YouTube.

She was a great comedienne.

Hi All,

Nearly forgot (but how could I?).

Space Truckin' by Deep Purple

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1YPijSWJmsE

We had a lot of luck on Venus
We always had a ball on Mars
Meeting all the groovey people
We've rocked the Milky Way so far
We danced around with borealis
Were space truckin' round the the stars
Come on lets go space truckin'

Remember when we did the moonshot
And pony trekker led the way
We'd move to the canaveral moonstop
And everynaut would dance and sway
We got music in our Solar System
Were space truckin round the stars
Come on lets go space truckin'

The fireball that we rode was moving
But now we've got a new machine
Yeah yeah yeah yeah the freaks said
Man those cats can really swing
They got music in their solar system
They've rocked around the Milky Way
They dance around the borealis
They're space truckin' everyday

Best,

Les D

LMAO ok now im walking around singing this song all nite hahaha very catchy hahahaha

Solar System Limericks

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1ZTknW5jpw

Solar System Limericks

Chorus:
Mercury, Venus Earth, Mars, Jupiter
Saturn, Uranus, Neptune & Pluto(er)
Comets, Asteroids, Moons & Meteors
Orbit 'round the Sun

There's a planet we know we call Mercury.
It orbits the Sun in a big hurry.
Only 88 days
To go 'round all the way
It's a wonder it doesn't look blurry.

An Earth sized planet is Venus.
But there's not much in common between us.
Acid clouds keep it hot.
A paradise it's not!
On Venus the weather is heinous!

We all know the planet called Earth.
We call it the home of our birth.
Seas, mountains and air,
Life is found everywhere.
It's a planet of obvious worth.

Mars is a planet that's red
it might have had life but looks dead
It's dusty and rusty
with winds that are gusty.
It's cold there so cover your head.

Asteroids are rocky debris.
When we look at them closely we see
Rocks that are jumbled,
And crumbled and tumbled
Pulled round by the sun's gravity.

Jupiter's largest of all.
A hydrogen helium ball.
Twisting clouds humor us
Moons that are numerous
Comparing the two, Earth is small.

The largest planet is Jupiter
I learned about it on my computer
clouds twisting orange
like rust on a door hinge
before I knew this I was stupider

Of beautiful Saturn I sing
a light fluffy puffball type thing
we know from the math
it would float in the bath
of course it would leave a big ring

Uranus rolls on it's side
with rings that stretch far and wide
A big ball of gas
As green as the grass
It's the name I just can't abide

A beautiful Cobalt blue
Neptune's a planet it's true,
With winds that are fast,
And blizzards of frozen gas.
All its moons must have quite a view!

Pluto's the farthest of all.
Compared to the rest it is small.
Of features and such,
We don't know very much
Because Pluto is such a small ball!

Sometimes from the outer spaces
A comet visits sunny places.
As it is warmed
A tail is formed
And around the Sun it races!
