Nice one guys! When do we get to see the fruits of the day?
I dont want to post more bird images, I have taken a few plant images but havn't processed yet and not expecting too much as I was after a lot of depth meaning small aperture around F22 which should be done on a tripod not handheld.
What a great day. I just happened to run into Peter Franklin before everyone arrived and after chatting a while he invited us in for a tour of the facility. What a great tour! The Planetarium definitely has some great computing power to show how small we are using all the currently available data about our universe. And what a beautiful telescope and mount the Zeiss has in the dome. Thanks Peter!
We wondered around the gardens for a few hours just looking for something to inspire photography. It was interesting how different everyone's idea of a interesting shot is, but most of us found something in the arid gardens. Full of texture and contrast.
Being overcast made it pleasant to walk around and no real wind to make it cold. Definitely a must do again. I think the new Gateway bridge would be an interesting site for those with a large lens!
Very nice photos there Anne-Louise, as always, I enjoy your work.

Will post an image or 2 later.
With plant shots Tony I prefer a wider aperture/shallow DOF allowing you to isolate the flower/plant from the background to emphasis it's beauty.
Looking forward to the rest of the shots.
I have only just loaded my images in the last 20 minutes on the computer and have just now deleted about 95% of them...lol
That yellow flower is gorgeous....will have to get a macro lens.
I was disapointed in my duck shot a little camera shake imaging at 400mm with wrong IS setting all so handheld but I will post it anyway.
Other image of spiky plant was with the 10-22 at F20 1/8 sec.
I learnt today that no matter how still you think you can hold the camera you need a tripod imaging at F22....lol
What got me with the planetarium is how far the voyerger has traveled and where it will be in 2050 that in comparison to our known universe we are a spec.
Allso how far our radio waves have travelled since the begining of known radio transmission was all so an eye opening.
Only fault with the presentation was there was no Pop Corn...lol
I am telling you guys we cant be the only life form.

I was just experimenting using less aperture but do understand that large aperture with blured background will give better results, my objective was to get everything in focus.
Here are the last of the one's I'm fairly happy with.
Thanks for all the comments. I think I had the least amount of gear. Some of the lenses looked great. I would love more equipment but I believe you work with what you have to get the best result you can.
Earthlight, you have some beautiful shots there, and as you said, you work with what you have got, and you have produced some lovely results, congratulations. All the gear in the world won't make anyone a good photographer, it's interpretation that counts.
I was not very happy with my results, but I have posted a few that are better than some of the others, not that is anything special.
However, it was a great morning, and the highlight was having a private showing in the Planetarium. Thanks Peter!!
It was good to meet Striker and Davewaldo, seen the names, and now met the faces.

Andrew I am keen I cant get enough of this at the moment.
I don't blame you Tony, it's very addictive.
The reason I bought my DSLR was for astro use but it quickly became two hobbies in one.
I love being able to just shoot things even if the weather is not the best.
