Note :
Getting back to the original complaint , I do notice that those videos seem to reappear later ' on a past page that few would then see .
My ISP is Telstra , who I think are pathetic !
When I contact them on any problem .
I get overseas puppets who I have difficulty understanding & can't seem to comprehend what I try to tell them .

That explains a fair bit. When it comes to Telstra I often find it useful to apply Hanlon's Razor.

That will not help in reality ( Hanion's Razor )
I then have to use Aussies to fix things , Telstra are useless ' the offshore support are hopeless every time .

Optus must use the same no-help desk!! Atrocious people to deal with.
Sometime ago there was a firearms-related video that some members on a hunting forum were complaining about being blocked. It was eventually worked out that the blocking was selective, depending on your ISP. Telstra and Optus were blocking it but most others weren't.

Oh yeah dealing with Optarse is about as fun as getting stabbed in the eye. A while ago I was over charged for some 3rd party crap that I never applied for nor even knew about. Took about 3 months and 10 back and forths being bounced around between departments before they finally managed to resolve the issue
Another time I wanted to upgrade my plan, and it was "online only". Tried it online, but ofcourse that didn't work. So called them up, and after being treated to 1.5 hours worth of refusals from multiple departments all spewing the old "we can't do that because it's online only" rhetoric, being put on hold, etc etc I finally got my new plan.

It's change and one needs to not become critical as that only makes you grumpy and grumpy is a condition of old age one must manage.
And it is amazing how a good attitude gets you thru these new business strategies we label as annoying.
Once I needed to get some paper tax forms for my Dad and now you just can't pick them up at the post office you must call and ask for some to posted out.
Well Dad goes on as to how that is such a bad thing ...all it is change...a good change...the push is to have everyone lodge on line which is a great way to handle the situation.
I have convinced him that the benefit to him is the Government is trying to save money and are doing so by implementing better and more efficient proceedures...his reply...it's all about empire building...do you see the problem????..when we get old our tendancy is to criticise even the good things no matter what...my brother in law won't have a mobile phone for a heap of old man grumpy reasons...so sad he denies himself going to Stanford University for one..please always look at the bright side and let the grumpy old men pick fault if that is all they can do...also I like that old saying...there never was a statute erected to honour a critic.
And when you have this bright attitude folk become more helpful..funny that.

In this case, Alex, I think your dad and BIL are correct.
Change against the public to reduce service and add more profit to the already very wealthy.
Change done so it improves things and doesn't further disadvantage the already disadvantaged is how things should be done. Unfortunately, what usually happens is the sort of problem your dad runs into. Change that makes it harder and more difficult to do ordinary things needed to live. Change that harms and not helps. It's cutting costs, without those savings and their benefits being ploughed back into an improvement in service.
A first rate example of such negative change, self-scan checkouts at Colesworth. As customers, those corporations now expect us to WANT to do the job of their PAID employees, with us not receiving even a percentage of the Staff Discounts granted to their paid employees for shopping at their stores.
Your BIL is also right in thinking that you shouldn't have to have a mobile phone. You shouldn't have to be instantly contactable 24/7, but society has trained itself to expect, and now demand it.
Wanting a phone to just be a phone. PREPOSTEROUS, STUPID, and LUDDITE attitude!.
Not be on Facebook, and/or Twitter, and/or Instagram is looked on as an anathema. If you are not on them then you are a social outcast.
Changes like that harm, more than help as they destroy the very notions of privacy and solitude.

I tend to agree (and yes, I am grumpy old man sometimes..)
The latest occasion wnen I got really grumpy was when I was switching to NBN.. I hreatened my provider (iinet) I will dump them if they do not provide me with re-connection without any cost and effort from my side, because I did not want nor I initiated that change anyway, ADSL was working perfectly OK for me..
They obliged... but I guess I was a rare example...

Hi Jenifur
First let me tell you the news..the lady who travels to Brisbane and back, firstly had a car accident but recovered but now is not talking to me...in any event she is out of the picture as to doing either of us a favour...I just would like to see you get a bit of dark sky is all.
Anyways I meant to send you a message so your reply here woke me up. But I hope she comes around and we can get my plan back on track. She is a caring person really and that is why I felt we could get her to get up a dark site viewing session..she lives in my old place and it is as dark as you could want.
I got a van and getting in and out is a performance as I am sure you can appreciate and made the mistake of walking around the other night without my stick at least but with the camera and you guessed it big fall..no injuries to me or the camera..so stick always at least.
Anyways back to your great post.
I think as a generalisation I can agree with your generalisations but change is what it is ..it arrives with benefits and disadvantages...things will be different that is a distinct quality of change.
I guess I no longer see the phone as a phone..but that's because I am in contact with so few people ..er in all only 6 ..one ex, two daughters Dad and two mates...but for me I like you tube so much..learn stuff mainly..how to make moonshine for one..listen to rain recordings...go to Stanford University to listen to GR lectures which I think is really something..a mug like me attending lectures at Stanford..that is a privilege in my book...face book..I felt the same but I joined about two maybe three months ago because there is a group there that discusses Asiair wireless thing for scope and camera management while laying in bed with my tablet...that only but I found out you can use it for video linking which I liked because I was able to show Dad one of the miracles of our modern world... One mate is on it and he sends stuff which I don't look at ... But it's how you use it..it is different to what I thought is so far as it's more private..at least the way I do it..I don't post photos of my lunch there..I post that here .
I guess the message I am trying to send is not to let change upset you and let it take more away ... Moreover you can't change change ...I did not know about the Coles thing...I started going back to Mac Donalds a while back after avoiding them for a long time to find they have screens that you put in your order...at first that annoyed me cause folk lose their jobs and I like to see a real person when ordering...and they are trying to train up the customers..in a very sneaky way...you go in and there is an assistant to help you use the screen because the cash register is not working..sure..it's that BS that ticks me off but I can see certain benefits for customers ..less waiting time for example but my response certainly is..I don't like this change and it's only benefit is the bottom line...well MacDonalds is off my list again...they are such poor value for money...now he little cafe gives twice as much for the same money and just so much better food.
But at the root of all our problems is the fact it is a market economy..it must use more, employ less people, increase dividends and continually expand..a recipe for problems..a lot of folk have to lose and eventually it must collapse but I can't think of another system so I am not going to worry and just be as happy as I can before everything ends.
Thanks for your input.
I hope you are doing ok.
Alex

Bobby my isp is telstra and I had no issue watching that video, I'm not sure what the issue was or is on your connection but it definitely is not an isp issue
You are right about their support though they are terrible I had a minor issue and it took 3 hours on the phone with an overseas muppet who then royally screwed it up further ,the next day when I had contacted Filipino operator she was able to sort out my issue in 20 minutes. Amazing when one does not follow the script and actually listens to you how things are fixed.

Interesting. The video does NOT appear when using my Telstra 4G. If I switch WIFI on, and run through the home TPG, the video appears upon reload.
Specifically, the video is replaced with a link "Video source". When clicked this link cannot resolve a page.
Anyone else care to try it on their Telstra Mobile connection? Telstra and Optus are usually the first to block things. I believe this is the case, but would appreciate a greater sample size. As I mentioned earlier, there's a stack of sites I cannot access on th Telstra 4G, but can with at home on the Wifi / with VPN.

Just tried it on my home ISP and Android tablet on Telstra 4G.
Home ISP is Internode.
In Chrome on my Windows desktop, the video plays fine.
On Android on Telstra, the video source website cannot be resolved.
On Android on WiFi, The video plays just fine.

Thanks they have very good reviews & you get to speak with an Aussie if a problem happens
Have a look at the horrendous reviews of Telstra customers , what an appalling record .

That problem is something that impacts so many, which is why they don't move ISPs.
What's needed is email address portability, the same as phone number portability. I've no idea if it might be possible to do, allowing for the domain structuring of the internet.

Unfortunately not. If such an ISP existed, there'd be big talk about it, and mass migration to it among the folks on Whirlpool.
The glory days of there being worthwhile Australian ISPs run by people who care, are long gone. Simon Hackett sold Internode to Mike Malone who ran iiNet. And in turn, Mike sold iiNet to TPG.
Now, all that's left is really only the big mobs, who only care about Money rather than the users.

You need to get out more Jeremy - I feel MUCH more censored, censured, and information oppressed in Australia, US and UK than I do in my MANY trips to Russia (MANY!). Don't believe all the propagandist BS they spew...because 90% plus of it is NOT true and they are using this stuff as political weapons. In fact, the US censors claiming now "False news" - wasn't it up to us to decide? "Drink our Kool-aid propaganda, not theirs..."

Yes I tend to agree somewhat Lewis as to it is us that are victims of a never-ending propaganda campaign.
One woman approx dies each week due of domestic violence...not a problem it seems...that is one of many deaths that should receive more attention...and yet what are we told to worry about..terrorism..you know that evil dark concoction of fear that claims the lives of Australians daily.
