to all newcomers! Stick around, read, contribute, attend some local viewing nights, read the books and mags, it's all good stuff .

Mike and Mojo and Mods (perhaps the site name should be changed to 3M? . . . No, perhaps not).

Even though it carries a risk of appearing as a fawning sycophant (tautology alert!) I have been most impressed by the site and the forum. For whatever reason it seems to have attracted those who don't mind the odd jest (many of those go way over my head, but I'm young and naive so that's to be expected), chat among those who know each other (not a clique) and, most important of all, a willingness to help, advise and direct newcomers.

Maybe it happens elsewhere, but I'm surprised (and impressed) that contributors from those in the astronomical retail and publishing industries also take their time to add comments, clarify problems or just say g'day.

So, I salute the 4 Ms.

Onwards and Upwards

We should put our predictions in.
I think we will have 2600 members by the end of the year with a surge at the time of the total lunar eclipse.

Cheers

Good onya Mike & Mojo, all the moderators & contributors.
It just goes to show, that what you give out freely will come back to you 10 fold !
It is an enormous pleasure to be part of the IIS family, it can can even inspire obsessive acts like traveling from one end of the country to the other for a star party

Mike and the team deserve more than a medal. It is a big job managing the people who come thru here and it is a surprise to me that it is being achieved with such a high degree of sucess.
I could suggest we tell our friends but could a site that big be managed?
I love this place , it has all the information I need to enjoy one of my favorite hobbies, and a vehicle to release pent up feeling, a vehicle to review your day if that is your thing and above all a virtual social life... so how good is that.
Congratualations Mike and the team many peoples lives would be a little emptier if it were not for your dream becoming a reality. For better or for worse you have my support and adddmiration
