Poor bugger just can't cop a break!

From severe LP and other issues now to this in the new home.

Thoughts go out to all those in this natural disaster.

Just left a meeting in which some guys have been without power at home for 36 hours. It is pretty tough for them to leave their wife and kids in that situation to go to work as they're transport workers.

Even worse for those who have suffered significant losses.

What has amazed me is the dedication and resilience of the SES and the guys keeping the railway working despite ongoing incidents - even when the weather clears it's far from over as there is a huge legacy of damage to fix.

G'day all , hope the locals are all okay. I've been away working out at Wellington, left Tuesday morning, checked the rain gauge before I left, 143mm, returned this evening, overflowing at 180mm,so that's 323mm that I know of, and probably more. Now the wind did knock a tree down next door, unfortunately it landed in my place, taking out part of the fence, destroyed a lawn locker, aviary and ended up on top of the chook pen just brushing the corner of the observatory.Insurance will fix all of my problems and I wish all of those with much more severe damage all the best, and for those we have lost so suddenly in this weather crisis, my condolences to their loved ones.

power came back on tonight at 6, its been a wild ride, i thought the wind was bad the night before but the winds last night very scary. during an extremely heavy gust the power went off, from then on it was watching the high tension wires arc off. the house shook for hours and the swamp got a whole lot closer but this morning it was all receding quickly. trees and fences blown around and some roof damage, but still here had well over 300mm

Good news about the receding water Dave.

We haven't had power at Minmi since Monday. No damage to house or obs though, just a fridge and freezer full of off food and an aquarium full of fish trying to breath.

well unless you have had a genny keeping it its a bin job, glad to see you got through ok. some nice trees over the road out to minim. Council are just now looking at picking up the damage and mapping it. unbelievably Newcastle has not officially been declared a disaster zone

Hopefully Tania wasn't cursing you to much, while watching that water rise, for moving you all there

Glad to hear you are essentially all ok

Mike

Mike, she was glad that i had the upgraded wind loading on the shed, and i insisted on double anchor points, unlike a shed one street away. Abba is guarding it for me

Alan's little problem needs to be thinktanked to come up with a solution to get his camper off
