On my list of dream scopes is one of these - http://www.obsessiontelescopes.com/t...15UC/index.php

Small enough for my car boot and would pack compact enough in my house to keep the DA (domestic authority) happy.

Dream telescopes

I remember about 40 something years ago reading an advertisement in a booklet supplied with Tasco telescopes, which I had a couple of in the 1970's. It was for a Tasco 4" refractor mounted on a equatorial pier, the "ants pants " back then and very expensive, about $2000, a fortune.
Now I see all of these wonderful telescopes hoping to fulfill your dreams with, and I am sure you will . So to quote a certain man on the radio "keep the dream alive", clear skies.

Yep, I remember the exact booklet, I got one in 1982 from a toy store in Newcastle after I started my very first part time job at Woolies. I used to take it to bed and stare at it under the covers, instead of girly magazines I remember that big 4" scope it was the last one in the booklet if I remember? Remember thinking that was ridiculous and I could never have something like that ever

Rest is history as they say

This is the catalog I took to bed

I ended up buying the 4.5" Lunagrosso model for AU$325 at David Jones in Kotara Newcastle

G'day Micheal, that is similar except the one I had was a little different, copyright 1966, but the telescopes are the same, also it had advice for beginners and northern hemisphere constellations.
