I'm so glad your brother wasn't physically harmed in this assault.
Emotional and mental stuff can run a lot deeper though - invasion of our private spaces, our inner sanctums are harder to deal with.
Please pass on our (IIS) best for what it's worth.
I feel pretty unhelpfull in the face of this sort of crap.
All the best
Doug

That is the worst thing Ive heard for a while, I hope neither of you carry scrars for too long, anger biterness etc, personally I moved to the country too to get away from crap like that, and invested in a 90lb Rottweiler...big sign on the gate, "Beware of Dog Trespassers remains will be prosecuted"
It shouldn be neccessary should it, the legal system is too soft, If the fear of the punishment outways the prospective gain of the crime,,,no sane person would commit a crime,,,

Be well and try not to take it all too heart. Its bad for you...

And Alex, I seriously doubt that they can be beat, or is this a trick question.....

Hi leon.
Once again, I'm glad your brother wasn't hurt. I'd say he would be emotionally tramatised by this..time and consulling will help heal...
He had the good sense and courage to kept his cool and co-operated with those scumbags.....and fortunately they left him physically unscathed.
Sometime that is not the case..I believe that no victim of crime is a punching bag for a criminal...
As for self-defence...it's now a subject for legal minds to make argument in the courts...
How much physical damage must one substain from another person to warrant a motion of defence with the use of force when there is no other option in order to avoid further physical damage??
Once a weapon is produced and the intentions of it are made clear without any doubt whatsoever...then one of the hardest decision in your life is about to happen.
Alcohol is a problem with some people...try asking a barperson about the time they last cut someone off...sometimes it's not a pretty sight!!!

"And Alex, I seriously doubt that they can be beat, or is this a trick question"

I sat and recalled each incident, six in all...2 of them I could not move over in the traffic (hiding in the outside lane is a giveaway) so I stopped up the road and waited for them to come to me each time thet did not each time I drove off. The other 4 occassions were as I said, one I was really gone (3/4 of bottle of wiskey over the previous 5 hours plus beer) I tried to blow past the tube and the policeman said "my grandmother can do better than that, blow properly or I will take you to the station" I blew it registered.,he said I was over where are you going etc. It was about 12-30 am in Scone on a trip from Syndey to here. Can you understand that I probably got them near knockoff time and how such little things figure outcomes.
Sir D you are a sailor..look at the water police when they test someone in a boat, if they have a can or bottle in their hand you will see the police boat stay alongside for 20 minutes before they test the drinker. Thats where I stumbled onto the idea (I lived on Mangrove Creek near Mt White nth of Sydney) by observing various times drinking boaties were pulled over and the proceedure that followed.
Composure and remembering your lines helps.
Some say I am a very lucky sort of person and I am in no doubt in each case the road police could have simply said "driver because you have just had a drink we cant test you for 20 minutes please wait at the side of the road"
These days I delight when they pull me over to be able to answer " No I do not drink" and when I go to the pub now to stagger home after one mild shandy less competent than the old days with a carton on board..once I could out drink anyone and still win a pool comp...now I can still win the pool comp if I can stay awake that long.
