I have been following this thread , and here goes .
I have some Sri Lankans next door and they are lovely people , both have come around for a look thru my SKY90 and M210 on lots of occasions , they are more than welcome ..And very happy to .
About 6 months ago either his or her mum and dad moved in , no worries there .
But try as I might to comunate with these geezers ,( I know they speak english , I have herd them speak it ) they look straight thru me and carry on ..TOTALLY Un-sociable I call it .
I have seen them more than once looking at me set up and start an observing session , and 1/2 hour later they walk past on their evening walks ,and I have asked ( nicely ) if they would like to see the Moon ? Nah! they totally ignore me and keep on walking , its their loss if they want to live in our country and ignore the locals , but it sux a lot ! .
By the way my ( young ) neighbours work work lots of night shifts , so mum and dad are home alone .
Differant strokes for differant folks I suppose ?
Brian.

I wasnt going to post anything but i'd though id share this.
On our yearly rates notice in VIC we pay for the garbage and green waste bins. We found that 1 green/garden waste bin was not enough so we ordered another one for an extra $63per year.

I agree Lewis, she's a cranky old bag. Every streets got one.

I had a neighbour who rode a motorbike and every week on bin day at 6am he would hoon out of his driveway, do a burnout on the road, kick my bin over then tear off down the street. I did nothing to provoke or initiate his hostility towards me - just one of life's p***ks.

Then one Wednesday I replaced my rubbish with 8 bags of cement.

Both his beloved Ducati and his fibia have never been the same since.

Just think yourselves lucky. We dont get garbage pickup, I have to cart the rubbish to the tip every fortnight 45km round trip, then we get charged $20 every 1/2 cubic meter (around $520/year), and on top of that we get charged in our rates $85/year for tip maintainence. So just for getting rid of household rubbish im paying over $600 per year!!!

But at the end of the day its worth the lifestyle change, all my neighbours are wonderful people, and always willing to lend a hand. I dont miss the city at all, where i had neighbours who were drugo's, i had my bins stolen twice, $300 worth of garden lights stolen, and young ********s doing burnouts down my street @ 2am.. Which is one of the reasons I sold my house and moved 300km south, its a better lifestyle and upbringing for my 3 children.

Getting back to topic, Everyone is different and has a different point of view, I think the situation could have been handled differently, but some people are just plain nuts. I incident that is fresh in my mind was my 30th birthday party at my old house in canberra, it was minus 6 degrees in the middle of June, so i decided to get a 44gallon drum and make a fire to keep everyone outside near the BBQ warm, and to toast marshmellows for the kids. around 2 weeks after the party i received a letter from the EPA warning me that "Burning off rubbish" is illegal and this is a warning that if it happens again i will be fined, I could not believe my eyes!! I knew exactly who it was, it was an old grumpy couple who were peeking through the gaps in the fence all night, these people where so completely out of touch with reality that they would call the police for any reason they could, one night I had police knock on my door because of a noise complaint from the neighbour about my 4 year old son playing with his toy piano late one night, my son had been having nightmares and i let him play his toy piano to help him settle before putting him back down. It wasnt a loud piano, just a $10 golo 2 x AA battery type, i was very suprised that they could even hear it!

There are crazy people out there, some worse than others....

Just acknowledge there are weirdo's and bogans out there. I am home sick with the flu and was trying to get a rest yesterday when my 30 something neighbor decides around 4:00pm to disturb the neighborhood by running his petrol powered RC vehicle up and down the footpath out the front of my house.

Lets just say I could have gone at the front and told him to STFU or else but what would that achieve especially me being unwell, so I let him have his 10 minutes of glory knowing full well he'd eventually get bored watching it go up and down or run out of petrol etc and move onto something else.

If he didn't I was going to reverse my car over the sucker and say sorry mate didn't see it
