I have just recently completed building myself a couple of light boxes and I am very pleased with the results. If anyone is interested in me building one for them, PM me and I can discuss price etc, one thing is for sure, they are going to be at least a third of the price of imported ones, and IMHO work just as well. The two attached images will give you some sort of idea of my construction. My method of construction allowes the light box to fit over the front of the telescope/dew shield, much like a cover so one does not need to balance it on the scope.
I use a 12v lighter type connector for the power, and each LED is rated at between 6000mcd and 12000mcd depending on the size of the box required.
If interested please feel free to ask any questions.

I am currently doing my last light box before my op, so those that have contacted me and don't have the decency to respond to my replies, will obviously miss out. As it takes around a week to build one of these, and my op is next Wednesday, no more will be built until I am fit enough to start again, probably in the order of mid June, going on my previous recuperation period, and that is assuming all goes well and Murphy does not get his finger in the pie..
hi Pete hope all is good with the op and you recover nice and quick love my light box been using it for well over a year now and still going strong don't know what I did with out it
keep us up dated on your progress
all the best cheers Pete
Just received my light box for my FSQ-85 from Peter, and I have to say, having now owned a few, that the new layout is even better than the old style, and the separate dimmer is a great idea!
Had the op on Wednesday as planned, much more painful than the first for some reason, maybe it was in worse condition than other thumb. Already had half a pack of Panadiene Forte, hardly takes the edge off. Looks like I have a boxing glove for a hand at present, such is the swelling, not a pretty sight, still the previous procedure swelled up as well and that has turned out fine.
One month into rehab, man is it still damn sore when I do the exercises. It is healing well, but long way to go internally. Surgeon said it was much worse than the right hand and he had to do a lot more work on the thumb bone. I am still wearing the splint that was constructed for me and that in itself is a nuisance. So light boxes will be a while yet.
Saw the hand therapist today, he is very happy with the progress and has basically given me the go ahead, common sense permitting, to start my light boxes again. I have about 70% use now and can do most things, although the strength still has a way to go.
About 8 years ago I got a light box from you and it is still going well. I now have need of another larger box.
I don’t want you to rush into this. My light box is not that important. But if you are at the point of putting together a list, can you add me for one light box.
When you are ready, I can send you some details. And pleased, don't rush back into this.
