The Microsoft Security Department callers - and similar

Do many people get these calls - I seem to attract them like moths to a light. Must have averaged one a week this year. They wouldn't be doing it if there wasn't a return so I assume lots of people are still getting caught.

SWMBO has adopted a policy. If the caller doesn't reply to her "Hello" within a couple of seconds, she hangs up. If they mention the word Windows or Microsoft she hangs up. I'd prefer she put the phone down next to the radio and leave it for a few minutes.

The microsoft calls seemed to disappear once we re-registered on the do-not-call list. Apparently the listing is only good for about three years, then you have to re-register.

My Dad got a call from these people once and thought it was genuine, but fortunately he was on his way out and didn't have time to switch his computer back on. By the time they had called back, he was aware.

I put them onto my sys-admin. She loves to talk on the phone. Her big sister is way too old for it now she's 4.
Alternatively I ask them to describe what they're wearing.
Still - the calls keep coming!

Apparently I've just won the BIG EURO MILLONES Lottery, 1,610,550.00 Euros. And it came in the snail mail ... and asked for a FAX number !!

You HAVE to be joking me ..... Oh, you are ...

The Microsoft phone scam was busted internationally about 3 months ago. It will probably re-appear in about a year or so when the mugus get out of jail.

We received our first 419 fax back in 1993 or 1995, I think it was.

I encourage everyone to head over to www.419eater.com and head to the scambaiting forums and join in on the fun.

They also target the vulnerable...like my now elder parents. They are at an age they are easily confused and this can be taken advantage of very easily.

Remember we will all be "elderly" one day and possibly in the same situation as my folks.

Seems like there is a mobile phone scam on at the moment.

"Freelotto.com", they state that they picked you out of millions of mobile phone numbers worldwide and that you have won 1,000,000 Great Britain pounds.

Apparently the scam is that they will ask you to send money to them to pay for the fee's, transfers and other associated costs.

So far I've won it three times this week and my wife twice, thats' 5,000,000 pounds. Should be a good Christmas.
