Great result Anthony! . Glad to see our journey on the ribbed sandwich 16" mirror blank yielding some worthwhile results.

Just brilliant, this is what amateur astronomy is about, capturing the moment, visually or otherwise.

Good image Bird, going north has paid off. How heavy is your scope?
I'm a little surprised it's on a G11!

Thanks all, Troy, the scope OTA weighs about 7kg empty and something like 25kg with all the optics and bits installed. It's handled quite ok on the G11 as long as there is no wind :-)

cheers, Bird

Superb shot and congrats on IOTW. Mustn't be much room left between the front altitude knob and weight shaft at that latitude.

Marc there's about 2mm of clearance :-) I have to be careful that no cables are in the gap or they get wedged...

Also had to remove the gearbox cover from the RA drive and replace the finger-friendly knob that locks the OTA onto the saddle plate with a low profile normal hex head nut after I found that they come together when the OTA is on the west side.

This is about as far north as this G11 will go without some serious modifications.

cheers, Bird
