Thanks guys Really makes my day.

Gee thanks for that Brendan, please PM me if you have any info. I have no idea about suburbs in Canberra. When you say 20min, do you mean walking or driving distance?
Also, does anyone know what public transport or traffic in general is like down there? I really despise Sydney traffic and just cannot wait to get away from it all.

Traffic? What's traffic.

None here and none there. Not enough people to cause traffic!

I seen some traffic last time I was in Melbourne. Terrible stuff.

Ah Tony, it wouldn't matter if there was a public transport system there anyway, I'd be used to it since Sydney's system is practically non-existent Besides, I reckon a horse and carriage would go faster than Sydney trains...

You lucky bugger Ken. Le and I face peak hour traffic every morning going to work. It can really drive you insane. I reckon Sydney drivers are the worst, don't need to travel to other states to confirm this

It has actually been confirmed through statistics that Melbourne drivers are the 2nd worst in the world.

Paris came out on top.

Sydney came in somewhere about 25th I think.

When getting around Canberra the only bad part is all the circular streets in the heart of Polly land. Very confusing. Have a look at a Canberra street map and you will see what I mean.

You're kidding? Sydney at 25? My goodness you melbournians must be really bad drivers then! I can agree to Parisians being the worst - they have no sense of direction you know. They just drive around all over the place, it's purely amazing how they stay on the roads.

I've been to Canberra a few times actually (you know, good old science trip to Questacon, parliment house for social studies or whatever subject it was, all NSW high school students know the drill) and everytime I've been there, it's like a ghost town. Just wondering if that was the norm I went to ANU's open day last year in August as well and it wasn't as packed as say a Sydney uni or UNSW open day.

By the way, how many canberrans are there in this forum? Haven't seen em on the map yet.

Only one member I think.

Hey, the country has it's down sides too if you can call them that: I just killed a snake on it's way up our front steps! (10 minutes ago) But what do you expect when my town is called 'Snake Valley'.

Edit:

Sorry if that scares you Silvie, That is only the 2nd snake at the front of our house in the 3 years we've been here. It's not normal.

Plus, Canberra ain't exactly out bush!
