Sorry
OK all, I am the guilty party who purchased the bulk of Strikers gear nearly all except the camera and lense. Dropped it off today too its new home in Childers.
What can I say top guy, and I just happened to be in the right place at the right time so to speak.
I got the man thinking and then it just happened.
Sorry to disappoint those who missed the opportunity.
Cheers Brett.

Congratulations Brett. It sounds like you got yourself some bargins there. If they still do all that burnin' off of the cane and such up there I'd suggest getting in touch with someone like Bintel for a "#01A Skylightfilter/Dust Seal" or similar which will effectively seal the scope completely.
Go to the Bintel webpage, then their online store, then to filters and on the 3rd filter page you will see the link to the filter. Have a read. I know what it's like with canefields around. I live in Nambour

Thanks!!
Thanks,
I just hope I will eventually be able to take beautiful photo's like Tony did, I cant wait to see the results he can achieve with his new setup when it arrives.
Fortunately they don't burn off anywhere near as much as they once did.
Cheers Brett

It was great to meet you Brett....just be patient with the gear as you know and if you need a hand just ring Paul(1Ponders)...oh I mean me....lol

I have had both the Meade and Celestron SCT's and honestly theirs no that much difference.....my main reason for swapping to the meade is I want a mirror lock and also want to see what the new Meade RC LX200R models are like....

Thanks Paul ,
Sounds like good advice I am more worried about the dust, they don't burn off half as much as they did.
Thanks Brett

I assume you are still want to image DSOs mostly...and you want an UPGRADE in performance from a 20Da? I can only think you will have to go for a dedicated astrocam and filters to match...better have AO and auto everything too. Why not RCOS/PARAMOUNT ME/SBIG?
Man you have the disease bad...

The 20DA is an awesome camera and I will definetly miss the live focus mode but it still is 2.5x the H-alpha respone then a standard DSLR, a full mod camera is close to 6 times but I am still not sure atm.
Maybe a dedicated CCD but it is looking like the 5D sensor will be wasted on a SCT.....I need to confirm this as it's a huge difference in price and one I am not going to take if I cant use the full image scale.

Yes it is Dave....buts its more then double the cost of the other camera modded and could be useless to me if I can't use it.
I was already getting vingnetting using the C11/20DA combination so it would only be worse with such a huge sensor....but still checking out all my options.
Not sure if the newer Meade SCT RC will make too much off a difference compared to the C11.
