I find it amazing that members posted about the earthquake a minute or two after it happened, and before some people felt it .
The power of the internet.

Felt here in Bright, NE Vic. I was sitting in a chair and it started to rock backwards and forwards. Seemed to last a while. Thought someone was pushing it but no-one was there, freaky. Didn't notice anything else (noise, rattles etc) and didn't think anything of it till my daughter rang a minute later to ask if we'd felt the tremor. Her house (1/2km away) rattled and shifters hanging in the shed were swinging backwards and forwards. The earth didn't move for my partner, she didn't notice a thing!
Last one I felt here could be heard coming and going, and we got lots of rattles.
Cheers -

My kids said they felt something, but I thought they were joking.
They were upstairs in our 2 story house near Tullamarine, and I thought the eldest had put down his weight set a bit hard.
Surprised to get on here and find out about the tremor.

The "we will rebuild" joke made it easier for us to go to sleep last night - very funny. Being from Sanfrancisco the quake was unsettling for my wife since she's accustomed to the initial shaking being the prelude to something bigger.
The kids were in bed at the time and thought hooligans were shaking/attacking our house - says something about the area we live in.

Just about exactly what I thought in Mt Waverley!! Didn't really feel the whole place move, but plates were rattling and there was a vibration going through the floor alongside a noise like a big truck or train going past.
Love the pic jjj, seen it around a few places, very funny!

It was also used for the Virginia earthquake last year.

Yep, felt a good shake here in Taylors Lakes. It was amazing! My youngest son and I were watching TV and thought for a second that my eldest had snuk up behind me and shook the couch. Heard a slight rumble and rattling.
