Stunning images Tom,

I especially like the composite image showing venus's path.

Sorry to bother you, but I was just wondering how you acheive focus on the 12'' dob,I assume this is prime focus.I recently bought a canon 550d and tried to attach it to the scope via the t ring and 2'' adapter but could not achieve focus. My scope specs are 300X1500 f/5.

Once again,All your photos are ajoy to look at thanks for posting
Regards Orestis

Hi Orestis. I can only speak about the Sky Watcher Goto Dobsonian series where they all can reach focus with a DSLR at prime focus. I don't use the 2" adapter. With a 5x Powermate or 2x Barlow on the 1.25" tube focus is reached with plenty of room to spare. Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Tom

Excellent additions since I last looked. That high mag video illustrates nicely the illusionary black drop effect,

Glad you like the images and videos. Here's a pic of the business end of the setup used.

I had the scope setup in the garage as all angles were covered for the event from in there, and I could close the door whenever I was not imaging or looking. Also, there was no wind.

Here's a compilation of all full disc images taken of the event. I didn't plan on set intervals so I took them sporadically, when I could.
