A full frame at f/2.8 would be nice indeed. I have the lens but it has weird hook-shaped coma in the corners and I wasn't sure if it is the "feature" of the lens or just sample variation.

Thanks,
Alex

It's likely sample variation. I had to get 5 last year for a full sky stitching project and only one was sharp edge to edge. A pity...it's a such a good lens they should charge a bit more and improve the QC.

Here's a full-frame full-res jpeg @ 15 MB.

http://www.mikesalway.com.au/download/248

It's a 30s exposure so there's some trailing.
But the edges are clearly a little elongated. However it's no worse than I've seen on the much more expensive 16-35mm L @ f/2.8.

Here's a processed single shot from one of the frames where the milky way was in the middle of the trees.

It's not cropped so you can see the full frame, but normally I would've cropped the roof of my house out

The full-size unprocessed jpeg of a similar frame is in the previous post.

Larger version of this processed shot:

Nice smooth animation and a good start. Time and lots more frames will make for some interesting animations.

Nice sequence Mike.

You can also do panning in LR Timelapse.

Thanks Paul. Time for some dark skies soon I reckon.

Thanks for your feedback. I simply searched ebay for Samyang 14mm Canon, and it came up. If there's none there now, they might come up periodically. You'll likely have to get it from O/S.

Thanks David - will have to check out LR Timelapse. I'd avoided it recently because of speed issues with my laptop and LR. Will try again.

LR Timelapse was quite quick for me. The long bit is when LR renders the video. Watch the video tutorial on his website - it explains the basic process very well and once you understand the concept behind it, it's quite an elegant process.

Nice! I particularly like the tree growing downwards from the top of frame
