Lets be honest - it isn't portable (not at 200 pounds). Therefore I assume you will need to invest in a sky shed of some sort.

My philosiphy I guess you could call it is to keep it simple. I like to be 'intimate' with the night sky so the less complexity the better. The fancy Meades and their robotic mounts are good for serious astro imagers with lotsa spare money but I am happy with my 3 basic telescopes. As for size my biggest telescope is 300mm and any bigger it starts to be a hassle to move and use so for me I don't really suffer from aperture fever either.

Boy I'm easily pleased

Scope envy - no, huge desire for financial approval of my budget item re telescope, definitely yes!

PS

If you could afford that scope, you could afford the entourage to hoist it anywhere or build yourself a lab to permanently hold it!

The only time I get scope envy is when someone has a nice lil APO scope I am a sucker for small high quality scopes even though I don't own one yet. Big scopes are nice to look through although I know what it takes to transport and set up those beast (plus not forgetting the ladder) and that really turns me off My 10" GS dob hits the sweet spot. It is light and short enough for me to lift easily and fit it in my small car for those dark sky jaunts...easy....

I'm pretty bad with equipment envy in a few fields; astronomy, photography and cars. I know I should spend more time using and less time drooling, but it's so hard...

Scope envy? Camera envy? Nah not me. Never. I'm completely satisified with what I've got and don't want another thing ever.

I'm also a compulsive liar.
