Neil's Auster display pics

G'day Neil,

These aren't high qual as I just took my FZ8 rather than lugging a bag of canon lenses BNE-MEL-BNE. So the heat played havoc with autofocus.
Anyway here are some pics of your short field takeoff and flypast.

Shame the winds kept the other rag aeroplanes away.

BTW you missed a fantastic disply by the Sabre, with the clouds in the background, plus drop tanks and sidwinders the polished display was awesome. The Bristol Box Kite has been constructed to professional standard and will be an amazing sight when calm conditions allow flight.

Many thanks to my excellent chauffeur Brendan and yes I prefer my DH-82 or B777 hat for sun protection.

The day was definitely worth the 20 hour round trip - even with the 90 min delay at Tulla for a BNE style Tropical Thunderstorm

David

Oh! for a Brace of CAC Sabres

Much better than mine Brendan, as the lens don't matter when your battery runs out

You had to be there and be able to recall the glorious days of the Sabre displays The North American Classic pair were great to see waltzing together, but a brace of Sabres well we can only dream it will happen.

Fantastic pics guys.

I grabbed heaps of videos on my phone but they look pretty bad and the noise of the wind is deafening.

I will try upload them to the laptop and make a You Tube video, but I doubt they will be good enough. Just playing them back on the phone shows they are crummy.

Thank you David, it is always interesting to see what it looked like.

I am sorry that we did not manage to meet anyone, with briefings and changes to the display program we could only be at the Auster early for DI, then refuel and preflight and time to go.
As such we did not see that much of the show so thanks also Brendan for the Sabre pics.

We only got to see some of the practice routines on Saturday arvo before our slot, the standout being the Parrot formation display although I do not know if they flew their routine on Sunday.
Always a favourite are the Southern Knights who flew their practice last thing on Saturday to lighthearted critique whilst we were having an ale.

I am also a sucker for old heavy metal - there is no substitute for litres or cubic inches.

Our next fly in is the Antique gathering at Cowra 23-25th March.

Neil.

He found out tonight at AAFCadets that it is postponed
He has to wait until they can hold another flying Day for them.

Thanks Sab, I'll pass on your congrats.
It's all part of helping him gain access to ADFA (Australian Defence Force Academy).
He wants to be a RAAF officer in Aerospace Enginering Electronics/Armament
