I usually do the same thing but it's rare to see much real cirrus. Saw some in my M87 & friends image but the relatively poor transparency around here for the past year or more always makes it a long shot.

Dunno - I've assumed it is some kind of artifact but was careful not to process it out just in case You should shine your astrograph on it under a dark sky to check it out!!

I wonder if you could find one of these for cheap second hand?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM_T220/T221_LCD_monitors

3840x2400 pixels in a 22" display... you could almost see your full STL11k frame at 100%

Wow, 7 months..... glad Santa was kindhttp://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/....s/thumbsup.gif
This is amazing.. so much res and simply love the smoothness.

The large image is 'da bom' Marcus... some great detail in both galaxies.. like we are travelling past it... well, a few hundred thousand light years at least

Hope you get some clear skies.
Never tire of these hi res images!

All the best
Rich

Cheers Rich - high praise indeed! Yes, 7 months is a long time between drinks and I'm a tad thirsty! Tonight's looking promising for the start of a new project!

That looks great. Nice to see those two very different galaxies in the same field. Beautiful colors and composition. +1 for persistence.

Thanks a lot Doug! The ol' Tak is good at capturing the fine detail - a bit over 2 arcsec in this image.

Cheers Marc! They're a sweet duo for sure!

Talking about persistence ... this is my 4th night fighting clouds to capture the Ha for my current project!! And I've only gotten 3 hours worth!

Very nice indeed Marcus! Was it taken with your TOA? I would have bet it was taken with a much larger instrument! Amazing..

Clear Skies

I'm late in chiming in on this one Marcus but that's a lovely shot. The detail in NGC 1055 in particular is superb.

Cheers

Thanks a lot Steve! Yes, I got some good seeing when gathering the Lum so was able to resolve a bit over 2 arcsec detail.
