Thanks Glen. I appreciate your comments but I think this is the best I'm going to do. It might have been different had I notified the VVV team immediately after I took the image. I'll know better next time but I very much doubt if there will be a next time.

Great job Steve.

It's typical of "professionals" who treat those without the qualifications and standing with scorn. Plus the interests of the financial side being taken into consideration as well, if they want to keep next years funding, they'll ride roughshod over anyone else that "gets in their way". You may have been remiss in not reporting the discovery straight away, but that shouldn't make any difference at all.

One day, a professional observatory/institute is going to do the same thing to an amateur and that amateur is going to go to town on them. It may even boil down to a law suit, if they're miffed enough.

Thanks Carl. It's certainly true that professionals have a different mind set on these matters.

That's not all Steve, it can happen between "professionals" that have a long "standing" and mileage in a field and those that don't, especially the younger ones.
