I can see granulation inside the granulation and those spots split apart with this level of resolution.

John.

Seriously Dennis, I just had another look at this remarkable image and all I can say is this attached photo

If you could make it colour it would be a watershed

That is simply remarkable.

One of the most beautiful solar images I have ever seen. If not the most beautiful.

Hello,

Thanks for all the nice comments – I am still quite stunned that I was able to record this level of detail. It makes me want to go to the Moon where one could image without the deleterious affects of an atmosphere!

Juts for interest sakes, here is the best individual frame from the stack. I have processed it using the same workflow as the original stacked image, although I have not been as aggressive, as the data broke down due to it being only a “stack” of one!

Cheers

Dennis

The stack is much better

What's really cool though Dennis is the granulation inside the sun spots

Hi Mike

Yes – this is the first time that I have noticed the spots inside the umbra of sunspots. I have seen “light bridges” before, but not this mottling.

Cheers

Thanks for that Dennis. The single frame gives some perspective as to what one needs to see to get such a great final pic.
