OK, I'll watch this thread but I'm going to aim for departure by about 5pm, so arrival around 6:15pm Saturday night. Two cars. Only a little C8 for me so I can carry a passenger - maybe 4 or 5 in the other car. So hopefully you guys can be generous with a group of newcomers to stargazing - my scope won't be enough for them.

Hey Early Starter Guys:
If you get there before a key holder, you can still access the site from the side gate (down the fire trail).
But remember to shut that gate once you come through it.

Clear skies

Thanks everyone. Especially for looking after the group of colleagues and friends I brought up for their first real taste of stargazing.

It was good to get to know a few more a little bit more. Perhaps I'll even start to lock names to faces in my leaky brain!

Upper level cloud finally brought us to a halt around midnight. Otherwise, it was nice conditions.

It was a great turn out, nice to chat to a few people, particularly thanks to Andrew (sorry I dont know your nick here) who showed me how to align using the polar scope on my HEQ5, and what to look for when looking through the scope

There were quite a bit of high clouds and light reflections from Sydney, got worse towards midnight, so most people packed up & went home. Looking forward to more of these outings

Managed to take some quick shots of NGC2070 & NGC253, will post it on the deep sky photography section.

Victor.

Great to catch up with everyone again and nice to meet all the new 'Clubbers'. Not the quality of sky we ordered but plenty to see just the same.
Where was that Kombi fella? We all missed the quantity of meteors and satellites he spies so consistently.
Maybe catch up again just before Christmas for another gathering?
Cheers

YES, It just was not the same without the comforting sound of coffee grinders.
I am sure I heard from Dob Alley ... "How's the serenity!"
Still I had a good time re-bonding with my BT100 Giant Binos.
And it was nice to be observing after midnight in short sleeves.

Sorry I missed this trip.

I went out with my Wife for a quiet Date.

I have been working like a Trojan all week, and I thought I had better spend some time with the family before they forget who I am....

Glad you all had a good night without the Coffee Grinders there.

Geoffro.
