Yes, I've had that on occasion too lately Mike. Set the alarm for 4AM to get jupiter, go outside, clouded in. Go back to bed. Get up at 6:10 AM for work to see it clear as a crystal. WHEN did it clear I usually ask myself. No doubt around 4:10

Ok Matt, if you are in the office between 3:30 and 5:30AM then you are in trouble. Not to worry, when the stress hits you take stress leave. Insomnia goes hand in glove with stress so while you are on stress leave you can sit up all night and wait for that magic 8 to 10/10 seeing. Those good conditions are so rare just try not to panic when you see it.

Problem solvered!

Face it weather gods, we have you cold! What's your next trick, Hmmmm??

Clouds!?....HUH! (insert megalomaniac laughter sound-track + bass & echo effect!) Bring 'em on! I'd luv some nice clouds for the comp!

So you see? You can't win...may as well send us that 10/10 seeing with zero moisture laden atmosphere!

@ robin. 9 weeks? Seems about right. How'd you react when the 9/10 arrived? Did you fall over yourself getting to the eyepiece Did you wake the family and neighbours to show 'em, like some star-crazed loon???

@Asi... I like where you're taking this. Very Dr Strangelove. Bring it on.

Matt, I was blown away coz it'd been crappy for ages.If it wasnt raining it was really windy(not called windy warrnambool for nothing), if it wasnt windy it was cloudy...or hazy...or a ton of dew....or clear with deceivingly high cloud.Funny thing is, it was o'cast up until 9pm then Voila!....pristine coastal seeing.Cassini division was razor sharp.Trapezium easily defined, Centaurus A a breeze. If i owned a flag i would've raised it!

And might I inquire... asi old mate, what the heck are you doing turning your attentions to Mars???

What's even worse Rob is what happened this morning, got up at 4.30 & setup....the seeing was absolutely rotten, (3/10) but clear. So I waited & waited. By exactly 7:05 it was like someone threw a switch & suddenly 7-8/10 seeing but too late to image jupiter as it was too light.
