Great thread JJJ - I know almost nothing about these and you've done a great service showing the full FOV etc. Realistically getting decent detail on most galaxies required a fair focal length though - you can't always have your cake and eat it too. The ED80 has done a remarkably good job.

Time to go up to the next strength Astro-photography Drug .... :-)
This is why I have avoided Astro-photography (not enough hour in my night)
Great picture though ...it has inspired me to go looking for the Grus Quartet tonight at our observing night !
