No use arguing about it here. This will all be sorted out in the next election and as a democratic country the will of the people is always right.

Haha Alex, I have always wanted to do that except replace parking for the morning freeway traffic jam . I think the next election will be a lot easier now that Komrad Gillardski and Herr Tony Clink have finally layed their cards on the table.

Nothing remotely like the frog in the pot Warren. The book must be carbon offset because it is made from wood pulp. Cut down a tree. Big joke, the tree was probably planted for that very purpose and probably has nothing to do with th denuding of critical forests such as the amazon forest or Asian forests which are causing a build up of CO2.
Just another example of money grabbing.
Perhaps you are like the frog in the pot and must be told what you can and can't do. I on the other hand can and will make my own mind up and will boycott these rip off merchants.

No I am not staying in the pot I know we have to do everything we can to prevent what will happen if we do nothing. I have already made my choice and the government still has a long way to go to catch up to where I am in my thinking

Couldnt agree more, it would be nice if the goverment did something responsible regarding carbon instead of socialist wealth redistribution.

I see the flat earther's are true to form. A few points to think on, I would love to live in a world where there was far less rules and regulations. However I also know that just like socialism it sounds good but it does work in the real world. Human greed means that we have to have rules, most people would agree with that.
The challenge is when to rules become oppressive? That will be different for different people.
If we all live by the golden rule do to others how you want to be treated then all rules and regs should have their basis in that basic tenant.

If your actions are adversely affecting other people then you should stop it. I really don't understand why someone would oppose this unless your a anarchist.
Good manners should stop your neighbor from mowing their lawn at 5’o’clock in the morning, however I glad we have noise pollution rules to back it up as there is always one person who doesn’t care about others.

Hagar nothing in the proposed carbon tax reduces your choices. Is extra tax on smokes bad? Is the regulation of extracting water out of the Murray good or are they taking away our freedoms.

Xelasnave, I agree on the mono culture comment. When we use trees to offset our carbon then we should re-vegetate rather then plant one type of tree.

The next election may result in a change in governent but it will not mean that global warming will go away. Remeber also that most libs think a market based emission trading is the best means to control carbon emissions. So no matter what Phony Tony says to get your vote now, will the Libs dismantle the ETS.

Kenny i think you are still not seeing that Gillardski's Carbon Tax will have zero effect on the levels of carbon produced. Charging extremely large multi-national companies extra for producing carbon will simply see those costs factored into their production and passed on to us the consumers. Then if you are on goverment handouts those handouts will increase. The rest of us 'flat earthers' who have ensured for our own future by pursuing high levels of education and achieving decent career paths will not be recieving this golden handshake. We just get left to pick up the tab for everyone else. Maybe if Gillardski went out and planted some trees it might make a difference. Instead she has just handed out 16 million as a gift to the new country of southern Uganda which is surprisingly rich in oil reserves. Maybe that money should have been put towards alternative power sources for Australia. Oh and by the way the latest NASA data has the planet at an average of 12 degrees cooler than usual (pesky global warming).

Well that was constructive...........but i have had enough of this thread topic. It saddens me that people on this forum who i percieve as being smarter than the average are obviously not. I am over the stress of arguing about this. IIS is a place where i come to regain sanity not face 'the sky is falling' crowd.

Ah Komrad Sidonski, you cannot blame the "flat Earther" Davros for this as it was I who started it . But as Komrad Kenny Geeski suggested,

Hold the phone! The science is in. Global Warming. Australian crops will fail from permanent drought. We will never see flooding rain again and the snow fields will be finished by 2012!

But wait, its cooling?
And then it’s warming again?
Now we have Climate Change and, OMG! The coast will be inundated by the oceans!
Could it be the climate hasn't been changing since Moses was a boy, until now?

Can’t blame those who have the ability to think for themselves, to be suspicious of political motives.
The data seems to support whatever agenda of the person who interprets it.

So what is the truth? We are still going to be China and India's quarry. We dig it out of the ground and they burn it while Australian manufacturing is flushed down the loo but, our desire to consume will still continue to rise so we import more from these unregulated polluters because it’s cheap and we pay and pay till.......?

Maybe we should call it the Fluffy Pink Elephant Tax. It will have the same impact on the environment and you will still feel warm and fuzzy about the extra five cents tax per book.
