I think the populace has been conditioned to think of Sci-Fi as having space ships, space battles, laser beams, aliens and the like (in every episode).

When you just get intelligent stories and good acting, they just dont get it

They think it is not Sci-Fi when it looks too close to reality.

I put the Q to a UK Forum that I am on and prob 60% didnt like it at all!!

Others said it got worse after the 2nd episode, a couple of others loved it. Others said the last couole were very good, and the season ends with a 'cliffhanger' . That will leave us dangling for eternity now ..... unless it gets picked up again, because of hte huge popularity it WILL get in Aus.

They said it was a shame that it was shown on BBC2 instead of BBC1, they reckon it would have got a 2nd season on BBC1.

I am still loving it, and finished the 3rd episode.

Yeah, all the good shows get canned.

Firefly, Arrested Development, Dollhouse (once you got past the first few episodes)...

I don't get why this show got canned.

It's one of the only shows I can stand, and, that was a good episode.

I don't have a TV so went to a friend's to watch it!

I turned it off when the guy said to Lily - "cure her or you're dead" - about as poor a line as you'd get from Home and Away

You should have waited Jennifer, it got quite interesting from there on.

One fellow looks like he's got a cult thing starting up, a few people are already onto him.

Quite intriguing.

same reason why the remake of 'Survivors' was canned.

He is a bit like Picard, both father-figures to their crew, though I think Tait would still maintain his calm demeanor ever under those four Cardassian lights, or was it five?

Outcasts just keeps getting better through its eight episodes - then it stops . Sometimes I think life might be happier in the fat part of the bell curve.

Yep another great episode.

The only annoying thing is that I am really enjoying it while in the back of your mind you know that it won't continue on.

Yes, Ric, this seems to be what happens to ALL decent Sci-Fi series that are not full of whizz bang short term attention span content but have more thought content. Remember Earth2, went the same way.

Have taken a look Liz and you do seem to be a bit of an Alien amongst the crowd there. Few seemed to like it. For me, well, I'm still trying. I watch very little tv and this is one of the progs I do watch. One prob I have with it is that there appears no direction. Earth2 did have some focus, this is more akin to post apocolypic themes with survival being the main aim, with extra-terrestrial base being the excuse. But regardless of all, if they wish to cut the series they should at least have a final episode that does not leave critical points hanging, but instead, some optomistm for the future.

Doh, doh, doh!! Just watched the final episode of 'Outcasts' ... leaves you hanging on sooo many levels, a great episode though. So glad that irritating ?julian character is under lock and key.
This could have headed off in so tangents .... alas, series suspended.
Oh well, 7-8 hrs of sci fi enjoyment.
