That's awesome work Marc! Like John, I can't wait to see the final result! Nice to see you put TIFFs up too. I love it when I can zoom in and not have to worry whether a little detail is an artifact or real.

Thanks Ivo. Yeah TIFF keeps a real good dynamic range as you stay in 16bits as well as no compression artefacts at all. But the file size is huge. Still nice to have though.

I'm experimenting with various registration algorithm as well as different rejection types and might redo a couple of panels process. Poisson seems to work well on small stacks but it's very destructive on the stars unless you are over sampled. Also found Nearest neighbourg registration not very star friendly on under sampled pics. Marc,

History is littered with the slain bodies of men who have attempted to capture this nebulae and process it so that it looks reasonable, but failed dismally.

What you've posted so far is just stupendous.

The "wall" as it were, is very difficult to process so that features are visible. I've not been able to do this properly. In fact, it was the first target I slung the STL/FSQ combination to, but, only managed an hour of hydrogen alpha before fog settled in. That was a year ago. Time won't allow me to chase this elusive sucker this year as I've got bigger fish in mind, but, I can't wait to see your masterpiece when it's completed.

Awesome work, mate.

H

Thanks again H. You want to check Doug's version on the FSQ106 then. That's a corker and in one take. Huuuuge field.
