Thank you everyone for your thoughts (mike especially!) I have done a quick curves on the old monitor, which i think i had a good "feel" for.

comparison for everyone:
Shot one old monitor processed
Shot two new monitor processed
Shot three, both the monitors showing the same jpeg (contrast adjusted one)

Link to new adjusted shot

note that I have set them both to sRGB color space and not changed anything else.

Nice image. Great detail and really nice processing. Maybe just a tad dark but still looks great.
