Great movies. remember going next door to watch the second one when it came out on VHS.i was around 9 and the only scene i remember was when Ripley and the girl get stuck in the room with a . . . . . . the one that put the eggs in you, dont think they have an official name

Scared the hell out of me for weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:ey epop:
the last movie had a religious android in it. Winnona Ryder???? lost its scaryness in that one.

Watched an interview with SW. she was saying in the original scene where the alien comes out of the guys guts, the whole crew didnt know what was going to happen. They all knew that something was coming out of the stomach, but not when or what. made for a better reaction apparently.

Known as a "face hugger"

Newt: My mommy always said there were no monsters - no real ones - but there are.
Ripley: Yes, there are, aren't there?
Newt: Why do they tell little kids that?
Ripley: Most of the time it's true.

Hi,

You put FP at the top !! I'm with you.

Actually I agree generally. Maybe Star Wars down further, depends on whether you prefer Sci-horror or Sci-fantasy.

Would you place The Blob anywhere as a classic?

Cheers

These are not in any particular order of preference either just my top 10 favourites.

The Blob is Ok but not a real classic IMO typical 50, 60's style of sci-fi in the same lines as

War or the Worlds
The Day the Earth Stood Still
Robinson Crusoe on Mars
First Men in the Moon
Time Machine

to name a few

I think I've watched every sci-fi movie and their remakes of any note released in the last 60 years some good, some rotten, some stupid and some just down right awful

Would like to see Aliens 1.9 where the terraformers get slaughtered just before the Rippely and the Sulcaco arrives or Aliens 2.1 where the cat is infected and then destroys the medical centre. Or any variation where the aliens win (for a change) and kill the humans.

I think the Alien creature does a pretty good job of destroying the humans, in all the movies they are only defeated through superior weaponry, numbers or self sacrifice and after a lot of property destruction.

I think the Aliens have cost the Weyland-Utani Corp billions in adjusted dollars

Also one I overlooked from my list

2001 A Space Odessy (dated but a classic)

They have now had the 4 movies on ch 11, and watched the last one, last night ... 'Alien Resurrection' - dont think I have seen it before , and really enjoyed it too. Couple funny one liners in it, that eased the scary tension.
Just great to have some good scifi on the telly. This is soooo much better than that 'Battle for Los Angelas' thats out at the moment.

Well it looks as though the prequel idea is no longer on the books, but has been replaced with a new and bigger production called 'Prometheus'. Ridley Scott at the helm, has some elements of the alien mythos but without the constraints or needing to shoehorn the new movie into the old storyline - new direction in other words and I reckon will be much the better for it... It sounds great! Fox!

Then there was the Alien Vs Predator movie.
My opinion, it was "all right I guess". I was backing the Predator because they ended up being a bit nice.
I don't think that was a Ridley Scott movie though was it?
