Welcome Don
You will find a great bunch of people to observe with there on the Sunshine Coast.
I presume your C130 GT is a ... Celestron 130mm scope of some sort?

I heard about you through one of the two Australian astronomy magazines - I don't have them with me at the moment so I am not certain which one.

And gaa_ian, you are correct. The scope is not a colonoscope (too small an aperture - take that any way you like ) - it is a Celestron 130 mm mak reflector on a CG5 equatorial mount with goto function. It is a new model I understand. Nothing flash, but hopefully good enough to teach me the basics before I splash out. I also have the Celestron eyepiece and filter kit.

I'll put up a review in the review section when I get to play a little more with it.

Don

Howdy hoo!

Welcome Moonshine - I'm sure you're gonna have some great times with your new scope. A very thoughtful pressie from your wife! She must've done her homework then, since she got you a nice rig to start with.

Enjoy your surfing (here & up there)....

Mike,
They joke around because deep down they are very nervous of Don's profession.
Am I right or am I right?

Welcome moonshine!! Your wife may regret getting you that scope cause this hobby can be a very addictive, if you dont spend most of the night out observing you will probably be on IIS forum were there is endless info, reading, and entertainment. im sure you will enjoy your new hobby!!!!

Welcome Moonshine.

Keep your eye on the Star Party and Observing Sessions Forum. We usually have a nights observing out near Kenilworth (Astroron's at Cambroon) every weekend closest to the new moon (Probably not this coming new moon as Astroron will be at the IISAC)
