Hi Truscott, Welcome to IIS.
What can I say but, read all the above. Ken made a very good suggestion in that you buy 2. One for home etc etc...... (a 10" DOB would be a good choice).
PTN. As acropolite,(Phil) has stated, optically the LX90 & LX200's are the same. Mechanically they are not. LX90's have aluminium gears as against brass in the LX200's, + a few other goodies.

Truscott, mate,

I concur with many of the other replies, take the scope back and buy a Dob in the 200-250mm range. Once you have sussed out a few of the brighter objects in the sky you will quickly learn how to find even quite faint objects.

Kirk, it has been said many times before that there are no 'silly' questions, just (sometimes), silly answers, (no offence meant to anyone). It can be very confusing too. You've got to try to filter the info you want from them.
Most of us are still learning after many years in this facinating hobby, I know I am.
Ask away whenever you like. Regards, L.

There used to be one on the SC Trus, but it disbanded a couple of years ago. There has been a bit of a move to get it up and running again, but nothing definate that I know of. Quite a few of us IISers get together every new moon out at astroron's place out at Cambroon between Kenilworth and Conondale. Depending on who comes there could be anything from Orion 80ED and etx90s up to 25" or 30" trus dobs. Just keep you eyes open in the star party and observing session forum. I don't think there will be one at the end of January as Ron will probably be at the IISAC along with a few others of us.

PM me and we might be able to work out some other options for you
