I got a bag of my favourite chocolate (Turkish Delight) and a DVD of one of my favourite movies (Lean on Me).

And my eldest daughter and grandson stayed over night! It was excellent having all my kids here!

Best of all is a little book "Spirit of the Night Sky"
Written by Laksar Burra
He is is the bloke who does the night sky tours at the "Sounds of Silence" resturant at Uluru in the NT.
I am sure I will get lots of good material for my own "Tours", from reading about the stories he tells.
Got a few gadgets & stuff too.

xmas present from santa

I got a canon EOS350 from ebay for $150.00 that he gave to Santa to give to me. Now if Santa learns how to use a computer, he may not believe me that such bargains are to be found on ebay. must be a cheap imitation.

Hi All,
Well,I feel extremly lucky to have such a generous family,
My Wife,Kathy bought me a pair of 20x80 Binoculars,
Eldest daughter, and son in law bought an Ice cream maker, and some great books,on the world wars,
Youngest daughter, bought me the new Queen dvd, return of the Champions, and a container/pourer for my home made bourbon, which looks like a petrol bowser,
Not Forgetting the Grandkids, some pens, bookmarks, etc,so I have done really well.
The most important bit.
Heaps of love,and affection.
All the best for 2006.
Regards.

I wish I'd been able to get away with a story about my cheap Canon EOS 10D from Ebay , but the home-based auditor found my "Items Won" listings. Doh!!

Cheers,
Graeme
(Now with a EOS 10D, wondering what is needed to connect it to the dob?)
"Oh no, I won't get into astrophotography for a while yet". Things we wish we hadn't said!

Good on you graeme
A Canon 10D very nice !
I now have a Canon IS S2, 5mp 12x Zoom (Was my wifes, now mine !)
Not really an Astrophotography camera, but great for everything else.
With a few dark frame subtractions I might be able to get the odd astrophoto !

My son sent me a book about Antarctica, came across a bit about the memorial at Observation Hill to Sir Robert Falcon Scott and his party.
On it is carved a line by Alfred Lord Tennyson which I thought would make a great dobbers motto.

to strive, to seek, to find and not to yield.

That would be interesting , the stories of exploration of Antarctica provide incrediable stories of feats {Amundsen} Tragedy {Scott} gallantry and survival {Shackleton/Mawson}
'Had we lived I should have had a tale to tell of the hardihood, endurance and courage of my companions which would have stirred the heart of every Englishman'-Scott

Got a Lymax SCT cooler and a DVD titled Space narrated by Sam Neil
