Plus the shielding on the train would have to be metres thick and as dense as lead to keep the passengers from being fried by gamma radiation....and extremely high energy gamma rays at that!!!!.
Nothing compared to the cost of removing those blasted millpedes.

Hi Renormalised, where would the Gamma rays be coming from. Sorry I don't understand that.

On another note if the train was supplied electricity from Earth then I'm assuming it would use up 100yrs worth of power ? If this is the case then it seems it pays to take your fuel with you when time travelling .

The other thing they said is that if any of the children on the train ran up the ailse, from back to front, they theoretically would exceed C. However they did continue to state that this couldn't happen, but I forget the reason why.

.
Light waves from in front of you get 'Blue shifted', their frequencies increase up to gamma rays.

That's what I feel too, it seems like one weeks refuel could lead to a sort of perpetual motion sort of problem, but I haven't found the right answer yet

They may think they are running fast enough to break the speed of light, but time for them has dilated so that, to an observer from earth they are running really slow, so train speed + kid speed is still under C.

Thanks mbo, the "in front of you" link was an interesting read. It's hard to imagine that even the light behind you can be seen in front of you . I'm now wondering if the lasers pushing on sails is the way to go when sending ships fast through space.
