Great work Trevor. I'm not up with tri-imaging but is it possible to RGB align Jupiter a bit better? I think from memory it's a bit harder to align seperate RGB than standard colour shots?

Tremendous work & I think I'm going to move to Broken Hill for the seeing, you lucky devil!

Thanks John, no, in this instance the 3 channels are aligned correctly.
I used the small white ovals on the edge of the STrZ to do the alignment, that means that the limb will not be aligned due to the rotation that occurred over the period of the 3 x 45 sec captures, but hopefully, the detail that JUPOS and the BAA are interested in and want to measure will be crisp and not smeared due to the alignment being on a planetary feature and not the limb. That detail looks very crisp to me.

Out here at the Hill I had a most excellent run with the seeing in 2008 & 2009, things have not been so good this year but I have still been able to put together quite a large body of work for Mars, Saturn & Jupiter but just not to the same extent of the last couple of years.

What about Flea3 settings

Hi Trevor,
These are fantastic images of a quality which we will never reach in Holland (down under for you ). I am curious how many frames you collected and how many were stacked.

I myself bought a Flea3 this week and am struggling finding the best capture software and with the settings. E.g. at what gain do you work and at which gamma and exposure time?
Regards, John

Thanks for your most generous comments John.

I use FireCapture.

With FireCapture as you adjust the exposure the frame rate is automatically adjusted to match. I adjust the exposure to give me just over 50 fps. I then adjust the gain to fill my histo to 80%.

I never use gamma, in fact I turn it off.

For these images the seeing was good enough to stack 2000 frames per channel.

As for specific settings they will be dependent on the aperture of your scope, mine is 16" F 4.5
