I know I am only a spring chicken (27) compared to alot of the members on here, but I can't vote. Both bands are great. Turbo Lover was a great album and Judas Preist helped pioneer the metal industry. Metallica, well what can I say, they are great also (minus a few poor efforts).

Ah, but that's just the mainstream stuff. Sydney in the 80's was metal heaven, and they did it louder, faster, and more skillfully than these private school boys who call themselves 'Punk' do it now.
Slaughterlord, Mortal Sin, Death Mission, Massive Appendage..... the list goes on. From pub gigs, to metal festivals, Sydney metal back then puts the current crap to shame.

Good music is simply good music. I have played Bass guitar for some time and have moved into six string. I like all sorts Fred but it has to be intelligent music. I reckon most people here, for what I have read, are musos (sic) and they appreciate quality. The understanding how hard it is to sound tight and reproduce a good collective sound is not easy. I respect good music I hate dumbos sampling other people's music like rappers  although the Hill Top Hoods seem to get it down!. If i can listen to a song and I enjoy it, I reckon thats good music. I never got that buzz from Judas Priest where as I did from Metallica

Fair enough Paul. Ive played Bass too, badly unforch. You have a 6 string, so you know the effect low B has, metal uses that to great effect.
I dont like sampling either, but I agree, Hill top Hoods seem to have got it right.
Im actually not a metal fanboy per say BTW, death/industrial metal leaves me cold, your right, its obvious when its good, a good tune by Tool, Chillys or Incubus creams your average metal for sure, for "quality" and tightness.
Interestingly, have you noticed at the local music store, that the "how to" book rack has 2 books on generic "bass technics" and 10 on "metal Bass"?, theres a lot more to it than meets the ear, if it wasnt buried in bad guitar riffs.

I prefer Priest.
Dreamer Deceiver and Deceiver of Sad Wings of Destiny are two of my favorites
Plus Deceiver has cool astro lyrics

I've got a lot of albums from both bands, Metallica has the edge in my opinion.
But then again early Black Sabbath with a young Ozzie on vocals leads by a mile.
