but i am sorry you chose cape schanck instead of joining us at heathcote on the weekend! i also wish i could be in two places at once!!
the red sky could just be airglow.. in my timelapse sequences with 'sunny' white balance, sky colour straight out of the camera is a pretty reddish/brown so that much is fairly natural. i think i am even seeing variation in the intensity of skyglow in timelapse sequences.. you may be able to see that in some of your work too?

Thanks Phil!
I did not choose to do it instead - the images are from Monday night and I went there to lift my mood of not being at Heathcote for the weekend.
I planned to go on Saturday but the forecast was not that favourable and I had a few things to do with the family so I thought maybe on Sunday, but then the forecast was cold and foggy and I don't have much dew protection for the telescope so I skipped it. Did I make a mistake - what was the weather like on Saturday and Sunday??
I am commited to go at the earliest opportunity and catch up with you guys and a new telescope with proper dew protection is due to arrive next month

.
The white balance is set at my usual 3700K so I think the colour is real.
Cheers,
Alex
