Very nice image, with so much in the shot the reflection works beautifully.

Absolutely fantastic! I'd have to say this tops all of the images you took last trip to NZ. Can't wait to see more if this is a sign of things to come! The colours, composition, exposure - all gives a serene feel.

Justin,
Thanks. I'd rather be back over there, that's for sure!
It's something I'll never forget.

That water is like glass, I really like the mirroring effect it gives with the symmetry only broken by the submerged branch on the left.
Despite the cold it must have been a hell of a way to greet the day.

Thanks!

Adam,
Yes, yes you do!
I made a version where I cropped the left side out, and, it looked horrible. This composition has a flow to it. And, after a while, the left just makes sense as you mentioned.

The cloud hues warm up what looks to be a really chilly spot. Initially I thought the folliage on the far left was distracting but it actually evens out the symetry of the overall shot

Stephen,
Up until now, it is, I think! There's things about it that are still bugging me, but, I know I'll fix them the next time I can be bothered opening the PSD.

Thanks! There were certain forests I went walking through and I was almost expecting dwarves or elves to pop up. It was so lush.

Appreciate the compliment.

Eric,
Glad you liked the framing -- it was hard to see what was going on with all the mist and cloud before dawn, but, I had a general idea of how to frame the camera and luckily enough I just had to make minor adjustments to fulfil the rule of thirds (or a rough translation of them).

Marc,
Haha! When I was getting to the location I had multiple layers of clothing on and I was sweating at the end of it and removed most of the layers until I was just a shirt and Goretex pants. Then, came time to take the image. I completely forgot about the cold as I was so desperate to catch the first light. Once I'd got it, I then noticed how cold it was, lol. On came all the layers and off I went back for a coffee.

Trevor,
Thanks! I'd love to show a larger version, but, I'm afraid I can't at the moment. The images will be made available as stock soon.

Well done, your skills in the dark art of photography are certainly to be admired!
I vote IOTW, even though its astro theme is small.

Rob,
Thanks, mate!
One day, perhaps? I've got the printer to make my own large format prints. I need to build up a large portfolio and see if it can get me somewhere.

Cheers! I agree, there's a bit going on, and, sometimes that can take away from the composition at times. But, it just works here. It's serene and tranquil.

Robert,
You're too kind -- I'm not extraordinary in the slightest. I have a long, long, long way to go before I'm satisfied 100% with the images myself. Some hit the spot, other's dont. Need to fix the hit:miss ratio.
